Brandon Holt will make his US Open debut after winning in qualies. He celebrated with his mother Tracy Austin, former #1 and youngest US Open champion ever. And now will face Taylor Fritz, whose mother is Kathy May, former #10 in the WTA. Austin and May played once and now their kids will meet.

And Brandon Holt wins! :yikes: The 303° against the 12°. Day of upsets in the US Open.

...and the mega upset happened as Galan held on to win 6-0 6-1 3-6 7-5! I can only wonder what @Makedonas will say about this one.

Better news for @hckošiceas Schmiedlova and Kuzmova won their R1 matches in straight sets (Kuzmova beating Sorribes Tormo is more impressive by far). Molcan lost to Monteiro.

Bummer for Alex for sure, but he is better on clay and by far, but sure to lose already in the first round against Monteiro...well, Marián Vajda is sure not going to be very happy :p

Nice from the girls though, both already exceeded the expectations :cheer: btw: fun fact both are Košice born girls and both are Belinda Bencic "besties" :d

:FRA Alize Cornet dumps out defending champion :GBR Emma Raducanu 6-3 6-3 in R1. Raducanu's terrible form after that one-hit wonder last USO continues, if Harriet Dart beats Dalma Galfi in R2 then she won't even be British #1 player anymore :p Currently down to #79 in the rankings.

Its the place where she belongs, tbh.

The Slovakian luck run out in R2, both Kuzmova and Schmiedlova are out but they were clear underdogs vs Rogers & Zhang Shuai.

The in-form Liudmila Samsonova and Caroline Garcia are through to R3 (the former taking out last year's finalist Leylah Fernandez).

Does anyone have a clue why a ton of matches aren't mentioned in the schedule?

https://www.usopen.org/en_US/scores/schedule/schedule9.html

For example I looked up Botic van de Zandschulp there, but he isn't there, even though he most certainly played yesterday. There's a whole bunch of other matches missing as well, maybe even dozens.

.
