I find it interesting Brazil has pretty much two winter sports federations: one for snow, one for ice :d I'll refrain on commenting on them in terms of the work :p

I believe there's a separate federation for Eisstock/Ice stock sport. Fun fact: Brazil won a silver medal at the 2014 Eisstock World Championships, and has been campaigning for the sport to join the Winter Olympics ever since.

The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation also admitted snow volleyball as a discipline, and a Brazilian team won a medal at the 2018 World Cup circuit.

Ah yeah, a sport I literally only ever heard of because I somehow happened to see Brazil won a silver in it :p

Nothing against the players and anyone who thinks I have something against Brazilian wintersports really missed something, but I hope ice stock sport won't become Olympic :d

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

I'm very outspoken about how I feel about the Winter Olympics, so honestly I don't care about any specific sport for inclusion. However, if they can add ski jumping (the most absurd sport in the world, in my opinion, even more so than things like kinball or canoe polo), they can add anything, really.

Time to turn off my laptop before I throw it out of the window in anger :old:

You are on dangerous ice here, amigo.

il y a une heure, Olympian1010 a dit :

Not that uncommon I’m beginning to find out. It seems like quite a few countries have just gone with umbrella snow sport and ice sport federations. It’s mostly the traditional countries that have separate federations.

France had basically two winter sport federations until 2006 when Ice Hockey separated from the Ice cartel. Now there are 3 federations.

:ITA got a freestyle skiing quota taken away, not rejected, put back on the reallocation list, so no idea what happened or how that’s legal. That’s honestly a first for me right there.
