Are there enough slower, easier, alternative  routes for the less talented riders and horses?

There are. I think there is an option at every combination obstacle, which is not always the case.

Have to say the commentary for this event has been pretty poor - Lucinda Green really hasn't been keeping up with what's been happening on course. She has just heaped praise on Andrew Hoy without picking up on the fact that they had 2 refusals/runouts.

Refusal for :AUS Hoy & Vassily de Lassos... Guess there is first time for everything. :(

Think he had 2 at the Athens Olympics.

Maybe I looked it up...

Not on Vassily de Lassos though, with whom he stayed on dressage score in both Tryon and Tokyo (the only one there).

Wow, and it turned to a total meltdown for both Hoy and Australia. Surely no Olympic quota this time.

Olympic quota places almost decided after Cross-Country...

if nothing really weird happens (or if there are no issues with the horse inspection), :GER:USA:NZL:GBR:IRL:SUI:JPN are way ahead of the rest of the field.

maybe :SWE could still steal the 7th place if SUI has troubles with the horses (they have only 3 riders left, can't afford a medical stop) or JPN have a total meltdown in show jumping (but they have 14 point-margin over SWE...that's a lot).

:GER vs :USA for gold, :NZL vs :GBR for bronze.

Individually, :GER Michael Jung has a good lead (5 pts) over the chasers.

the fight for silver and bronze is going to be quite exciting, with 10 people in just 4 points span.

:ITA Italy have been once again a total disaster, a bunch of losers (and I'd really like to know who decided to keep Bordone in the team despite being at high risk after the recent injury)...:hairpull:

It has been a long day. :p

I like her as a commentator on horse things, but Ghazala is really not that good at presenting anything except show jumping. There have been much more informative host commentators in the past.

Not a good day for Australia, but they will have another opportunity to qualify at the F/G qualifier.

Barring a total meltdown, the top 7 seems to be set.

    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )

    • well, Cuba and Venezuela for sure...   Iran is a different question, but I hope in 2 years all this war shit is done and dusted and at least in the sports world everything is gonna be OK
    • In my opinion the Italian team has been playing above expectations since last year after several years of decline. Last year, we advanced to the first division at the European Championships and now they're playing very close matches against the strong India and Scotland. We a little miss a potential to do more – we are only 18th in the world rankings. Our men's team's performance in this sport is much weaker.
    • I wonder if all Cuba, Iran and Venezuela will be able to travel and compete in LA at all... Hopefully that yes.
