The Uruguayan women's national team did not compete at the South American repechage tournament for the 2023 World Cup, due to lack of budget.

Unfortunately, this is not unusual at all here...

The eight best nations are pre-seeded in the WCh:

A: :SWE    C: :NOR
B: :MNE    D: :FRA

E: :DEN    G: :ESP

F: :GER    H: :NED

This normally means a quarterfinal for :NED against Norway or France, in my opinion the two best teams in the world. Both are already qualified for the OG, so the winners of A/B/E/F are playing for the third place and the Olympic spot.

Countries ranked 4 to 9 will play an OQT. I think it's really unfair that the number 9 ends up in the easiest OQT-poule with only 1 other European country.

Hmm, this doesn't sound very hopeful for the Dutch team. It sounds like they'll need a really strong OQT performance where they beat at least one and probably multiple of the listed top 8 countries?

Greenland looks set for a final against Mexico, organizing this year's Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship.

Winner gets the ticket to the World Championships.

Surely not set just yet as :MEX still has three games left in group stage including this eveningʻs match against :CAN. But, yes, :GRL has looked the best so far.

And :CAN is beating :MEX right now

:CAN would win and, in no surprise, :GRL defeats :USA by 15 goals.

Check out the stream of these games, the :GRL fanbase is top-notch!

Yes, after tonight matches :CAN looks favorite for 2nd place and final against the hosts.

However :GRL seems from another league and I sure hope unless disaster strikes to watch them produce nice handball at the Worlds and even going to the second round at least.

    • In the main round 4 groups created each will have 6 nations (3 qualified from each preliminary group). each team qualify with the points they gain from the teams qualified with them (the 4th team results are ignored) first 2 teams from the main round qualify to the quarter final   Group I:                                             4 PTS  4 PTS  2 PTS  1 PTS  1 PTS  0 PTS     Group II:  4 PTS  3 PTS  2 PTS  2 PTS  1 PTS  0 PTS   Group III:  4 PTS  3 PTS  3 PTS  2 PTS  0 PTS  0 PTS   Group IV:  4 PTS  4 PTS  2 PTS  2 PTS  0 PTS  0 PTS
    • yesterdays' results:  VS  26-31 Very good result for  to qualify to the main round, the team improved (but not to compete with the high level yet).  is a fast and rapid team but lacking the strength and good defense.  VS  29-29, great game from both giants,  finished the first half 16-11 but a great comeback from  in second half with special thanks to Alex Dujshebev who scored in the last 6 seconds and to Dujshebev junior (Daniel) who saved the long shot from the center to secure the draw in a thriller game. De Vargas (  gk) did one great moment in the game when he saved a penalty and the Ref gave the Swedish player a red card thinking it came straight to De Vargas face but the GK told the ref it came from his hand asking the ref to cancel the red card in a great moment (at that time the score was 20-14 to Sweden)    VS  28-38, great game from the african side,  is a big question mark, in 1999 Wch they finished 8th and since then the team performance was keep going down (decent number of players switched nationalities),  was leading the game from start till the end and secure a historical qualify to the main round.  VS  18-23, is it a surprise? ..yes and no ..  should be the more favorable side but their performance even in the European qualification was not great..  beat  in European qualification with 1 goal difference in a very tough game.  was performing very well from the beginning finishing the 1st half 14-8,  GK get the credit for such brilliant result.
