I wouldn't say so, at least for what concerns the team event...actually, it's a one-team show with France miles ahead of all the rivals...

at least, with Russia we used to have some kind of battle for gold...right now, it's all done and dusted before the competition day starts...

Yeah... not quite. :d

Was close against Japan even.

Thank you for the jinxing. I know who I'll personally blame in case of defeat.

However, France wins the table for the first time since 2007 (2008 non-Olympic WC excluded); most medals together with Italy!

That's one very unexpected gold medal for us, which is also historic for Hungarian fencing. I hope Márton will come back for the next season, with her this team should easily qualify for Paris.

Women's Individual Sabre the only title missing. Same holds true for Italy in that event at world championships.

just a couple of fun facts...

first, the final four of the men and women's Team Foil are exactly the same...same pairings in the semifinals and same medallists (and 4th place), only the score of the single matches are different...

second, if the last hit (in the OT) between Marini and Lefort in the GMM of the men's Individual Foil would have gone the other way round, France and Italy would have been perfectly tied on top of the final medal table (instead, France got it all)...

see you next year in Milan (when the tournament would also count for the Olympic qualification)...:bye:

    • Exactly. Recent developments of the construction haven't been particularly encouraging, and while they'll probably get everything sorted just in time, a lot of North American fans have been quite vocal about every minor inconvenience.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
