For safety reasons, there is a 3km crash limit before the end of the race.  Because he was caught up in a crash, he lost no time. If the crash had been 10km from the end, he would indeed have lost time.

So, if a crash happens no later than 3km before finish line, no one loses time?

They still have to cross the line though, even walking & carrying their bike.

What is the forecast for tomorrow? :d I'm expecting slight chaos, but with a bit of rain it would be even more fun. Time for Sagan to shine again. :bounce:

Great ride from Van Aert!

Winning the first 11 climbs is a new record. The old one is from 1958!

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
