5-2 at the Women’s Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers, with two 3-0 victories today and yesterday against Czech Republic and Mexico. Germany is still in the mix for a quota, but assuming they don’t qualify, it’ll be a battle between us and Netherlands at VNL 2024 for a spot in Paris.

The top 5 ranked teams not already qualified will do so through rankings, correct? Canada is now #5 on the yet to be qualified teams, but it also has to included teams from all continents. Africa and Oceania do not have qualified teams, so do they automatically get spots (Kenya and Australia)?

Kenya, yes. Oceania doesn't have their own confederation so Australia won't be an issue. Right now, Canada is one spot outside from qualifying through rankings.

Canada with an important 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 24-26, 25-18, 15-12) victory over Netherlands to start off their OQT! Nimir led Netherlands with 29 points. Maar was Canada’s top scorer with 19 points, followed by Szwarc with 18 points. Up next, Argentina.

Did Canada just get maximum points off Argentina ??

Huge opportunity for Canada. There's still a lot left to play, but we are now favoured at winning one of the quotas.

Yes, they won 3-1. NDL and ARG were the two teams they had to beat to potentially finish top-2, since Poland is #1 in the world.  Their other competition are ranked below them, but not by much so there's still work to do. However, Canada looked really good in both matches so far (although they need to clean up their serves a bit). Cautiously optimistic.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.

    • But his time isn`t valid at track record.
    • Vladimir Semirunniy dropped a 12:28 in the 10000m B division, which qualifies him for the Olympics as the fastest time this season (with the big asterisk that it was done in a quad start). Must be a real relief for the Polish team given he isn't looking likely to qualify for the 10000m (or the 5000m) by ranking.   Really problematic that they rank pair start and quad start times together, but whatever.   Also, the Wikipedia page for qualification is updated through the second day.
