As far as I know the commericial radio stations don't need to live up to any Danish music quota. But our national broadcasting station does have to, but the language doesn't need to be Danish. In the most recent public service deal (from 2019), DR (Danish Radio, our national broadcaster) must annually offer/play a minimum of 48% Danish music, i.e made or performed by Danish artists and ensembles, on their two biggest radio channels, P3 and P4.

It's more or less the same here, around 40% must be French songs (especially from what they call new talents), although it's a quota that all radio stations in the country have to respect.

To those who live in countries where English isn't the official language: do your radio stations also have quotas of songs in your native language they have to broadcast?

yep, if I remember well here it is something like at least one SVK artist/band must be played every hour (but it does not matter if the song is in slovak or any other language lol) it apply for all radios not only the national broadcatser but also for the commercial radio stations

It can’t get this audition out of my head. I never heard a duet like this before. With the video having nearly 50 million views on YouTube, I can tell I’m not the only one left with that thought :p

Your nations most popular Sport songs ?

in :CZE it is certainly "Zelená je tráva, Fotbal to je hra"  - "Grass is green :p and football is the game"

that song was released many many years ago, you´ll surely recognize the tune "Blue is the color" from Chelsea FC anthem.

The legendary Antonín Panenka and his teammates singing this was a pure hit in back Czechoslovakia, the song is still used before football events in CZ and SK

For :SVK it is definitely the "Nech bože dá !" - "May god give !" song the unwritten anthem of our ice hockey NT, with the main parts often used as goal song of our teams

For Ireland the first that springs to mind is the Irish song for Italia 90 World Cup.... the whole country was swept up in a wave of emotion after we qualified for Italia 90 and we made it to the quarter-finals in the World Cup, beating Romania on penalties... this song was synonymous with Irish successes in any aspect (not just in football) for many years after.

The other one that comes to mind immediately is The Fields of Athenry.... this song will be blasted out by Irish fans during rugby and football matches. The song has huge cultural significance to many Irish people.

Garuda di Dadaku (Garuda on my chest) - The unofficial song for national football team, the reff tune is based on Papuan folk song 'Apuse'. Supporters also chant the lyrics during matches...

In badminton matches, usually after any Indonesian players win the title they will play either 'Bendera (Flag)' or 'Kebyar-Kebyar'. These two songs are rather patriotic rather than sport specific though. Kebyar-Kebyar also became famous after Arkarna covered it.

Other sports doesn't really have a special song, but during multievent reports on TV station these 2 songs from SEA Games 2011 will be used over and over again as the intro (kinda like the Bugler's Dream).

We don’t really have a national song in the US (at least not that I can think of). We’re pretty sectarian when it comes to sports, so generally songs are associated with certain regions/teams.

In terms of Olympic theme songs, we have some great ones:

And every Olympics begins and ends with a full play through of this melody:

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
    • This is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t willing to celebrate Pride then you should simply not come to Seattle. You have to respect local customs.   https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c208392884jo
