Enea Bastianini won the season opener in Losail - his first MotoGP victory. It looks like the 2021 Ducati is way better than the 2022 bike. Bagnaia crashed out and took out Martin while Miller retired with technical issues.

Capirossi was worried with the unstable weather in Mandalika, so the Indonesian organizers called a rain shaman to show her powers to the non-believers

Interesting to read this while waiting for the MotoGP to start, after being delayed by at least a full hour due to heavy rain :p

Tiny bit of weather at Mandalika.

Tiny bit of weather at Mandalika.

They deployed a bunch of "weather control planes" and it didn't work as intended so they decided to have this lady back after rain starts pouring :d

I think this is the most politicized race ever lol

National anthems and marching band, a president watching when the whole country is having a cooking oil shortage, some locals protesting demanding to be employed, Islamists condemning the rain shaman for promoting mysticism, etc etc.... but in the end the show went on

Very happy to see Indonesia back, and by looks of it, there is a big fan interest, unlike some other places F1 and MotoGP tried expanding. I'm usually always pro wet races, but this time it was a small pity for the fans there. It was still a good race, but after a 25 years absence, a dry more dynamic race would have been a blast for the people.

They are! MotoGP is very big here, perhaps bigger than F1.

Yamaha team almost always made their players speak some Indonesian for the ads (I believe Rossi can speak Indonesian very well because of years of shooting ads lol). People on the streets often sell stickers of the riders' numbers for their own motorbikes or helmets (there is one seller just on the street across my house).

Basically Indonesian people just love motorbikes, to the point that 10 year olds riding motorbike is not a rare sight :p

First time in Indonesia since 1997! The Indonesian public must be really hyped for this :)

Hopefully a good amount of Thai fans there as well to witness the first ever Thai Grand Prix winner earlier today :cheer:

Unsurprisingly the Asian Talent Cup always provides for great racing and there's always excellent talents coming out of it! Often they're above average in terms of rain skills as well :d
