Well that's a mediocre team in terms of size, for the Dutch. Too bad the times of Willy Stähle are over, double world champion and 10+ times European champion before she was 20, followed by a life in anonymity. A TV program was made about her a few years ago, with which she didn't cooperate, but afterwards she contacted the people who made it and some former friends fo had cooperated, so that's something. She didn't live too long after it though.

Especially for a nation that after climate change will be one big beach

So climate change is the fault of the Germans, they want more space to dig their holes :hairpull:

In all honesty I wouldn’t be that disappointed with the Dutch team @heywoodu. The majority of qualification systems were rather good, but a few left quite a bit to be desired. This is a new event on the international calendar. It may take awhile for nations to start sending bigger teams. Plus, it’s not like the Netherlands are powerhouses in any of the sports besides sailing. If Candy Jacobs competes, you guys might just have a medal chance.

I thought Candy Jacobs is a skateboarder and so would be in the Urban Games if anything :p

It should be, but alas it is in these games instead.

Skateboarding on the beach sounds rather annoying though, surely wheels and beachy sand don't really work well..

Well in California, Skateboarding is inherently part of the Beach culture around here. Our most famous skate parks are all at or near the beaches. I think it made a bit more sense when the games were in San Diego.

In 2021, I hope Skateboard, Water Ski/Wakeboard, and Sport Climbing are moved to the World Urban Games.

But water skiing and wakeboarding sounds absolutely perfect for Beach Games :d

This whole stuff is confusing

No one water skis or wakeboards on the sea. Most countries use rowing or canoeing venues for training. Recently because of new cable technology, there’s been a lot of Wakeboard Park contests in small waterways or lakes within cities.

I hope that with Gismondi will be different, especially since she was already a great talent in her junior years. The problem in Italy is that for the past 15 years, aside from Pellegrino, there has been a miss of stability in other athletes: there are some booms of excellent form, but later they disappear. I also worry that funding for cross-country skiing will be cut after the Cortina Olympics.
