Balmer beating Mr "There is no I in team" Evenepoel? Right...

Vacek could do it, he already beat him on an uphill finish this year and today it's harder in terms of climbing.

Or of course REV rides away after 2km again and wins with 10 minutes like at the European championships. I'm almost back home, hopefully I won't miss the deciding attack

It has been announced that Mixed team time trial will feature at 2019 UCI Road Cycling World Championships.

https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1070428/mixed-team-time-trial-to-feature-at-2019-uci-road-cycling-world-championships

The race, which will be reserved for national teams, will feature six riders from the under-23 and elite categories. MIxed team time trial will see three male riders complete a lap, then hand over to three female riders to finish.

I need to mention @heywoodu 's comment

UCI wants to be IOC's best friend

I think that it's not a bad idea to eliminate the TTT (where team is a "club"), but obviously I had preferred its exchange with national teams time trial. The idea for a sort of cycling relay... maybe not that bad, (I know this is going to be quite unpopular), according to the previews of the event it could have been thought better, but still it may be good.

Wait, what? Six riders per team, made up from U23 and elite male and female riders?

It's just a shame that this circus stuff is added right in a time where the TTT is actually relatively close :p

Evenepoel crashed (apparently due to some Czech, but I didn't see it), several crashes before that as well, showing juniors are not very technical yet :p

Now there's a lead group and Evenepoel is riding towards it with the entire peloton in his wheel.

This is how UCI President, David Lappartient, got the idea for mixed team time trial.

"I got this idea during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. I was watching the biathlon – the team relay – with my brother, and I thought, 'Why can't we have this in cycling?'

This must be the first time biathlon has inspired anything in cycling :p

    • my 2 cents (just to play...dreaming is free for all )      Alpine skiing (8) - get rid of the mixed team combined   Biathlon (9) - get rid of the pursuit (unfair to base it on a previous sprint result) - instead have qualifying rounds for the Mass Start races (which should be open to all the athletes competing, still with the 4-per-nation limit, of course)   Bobsleigh (2) - women's monobob and men's 2-man bob away - maximum of 2 sleds per NOC - all bobsleds must be the same for every team, managed only by the International Federation (like the boats in Sailing at the Summer Games)   Cross-country skiing (10) - reinstate the old women's distance races (10/15/30km), as the 50km still doesn't have enough good competitors - 30/50km in interval starts - team sprint away - Individual sprint must be a real sprint: 1000m, no up- and downhills, just a flat course and always in freestyle (if it's a sprint, it must be the quickest possible, technique included)   Curling (3) - no major changes, just add a couple of teams to the mixed event   Figure skating (3) - team event and ice dance away (Gala, too)   Freestyle skiing (10) - remove aerials completely and dual moguls   Ice hockey (2) - no changes   Luge (4) - team event away; 2 sleds per NOC (and at least 20 pairs) in women's doubles   Nordic combined (0) - away   Short-track speed skating (9) - no changes on the program; hopefully, many changes in the races' judgment   Skeleton (2) - team event away   Ski jumping (4) - Large Hill only, Individual and "super team" events for men and women   Ski mountaineering (5) - 2x vertical race, 2x individual, 1x mixed team relay (2 men, 2 women) - remove that farce named sprint races   Snowboarding (12) - Snowboardcross team event away - add PSL men and women   Speed skating (12-14) - make the team pursuit longer and with 4 riders per team (at least 4, maybe even 5km) - get rid of the mass start races as they are now; possibly add true Marathon races (60km women, 80km men minimum) with no loughable intermediate sprints     New sports:   Alpine (formerly Natural Track) Luge (3) - men and women's singles, open doubles   Ski Orienteering (5) - 2x sprint, 2x long distance, 1x mixed team     TOTAL: 101-103
    • It isn't the only thing of course, but I have no doubt it helps to be able to actually do something besides just sports. It can make the 'black hole' somewhat smaller at least, even if it doesn't take it away entirely.
    • Exactly! Plus it's awesome if you're at the event. You and everyone around you witnessed it, you should see and hear the athletes you saw fighting be awarded.
    • While it certainly helps, I don't think it's quite that easy
    • Several medals from the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games broke or came loose from their ribbons shortly after their presentation, due to a defect in the fastener
    • I never want to see a medal plaza ever again. The medal ceremonies were so important for me as a spectator, even the ones I really didn’t want to sit through (and no offense but the men’s 5000m relay def was one of them :P ) xD   It gives closure to the event, basically.
    • Commentators talking about the fantastic lack of a Medal Plaza. I sadly saw for Utah 2034 there's already a location for that nonsense, for France there isn't....does that mean one can hope we will have the emotional and adrenaline-filled ceremonies also for France 2030?   I saw the 'venue ceremony' for the 50k classic today, fine that it was like that today, but if all of them are like that...ugh, just "First place...*name*!"
