Breaking news

"The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its decision in the appeal filed by Mr Serik Konakbayev, Vice President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) and President of the Asian Boxing Confederation, against the decision taken by the AIBA Election Committee on 1 October 2018 in which his name was not included on the list of candidates standing for election for the role of AIBA President. CAS has upheld Serik Konakbayev’s appeal. Accordingly, AIBA is ordered to include Serik Konakbayev in the list of presidential candidates standing for election at the next AIBA Congress, scheduled to take place on 2-3 November 2018 in Moscow."

And if AIBA's mobster says "Ok, but you know what? No."?

Anarchy in the CH.

getting serious, I really have troubles with the names, so can anybody tell me who is the nice guy and who’s the bad one?

I doubt there is a nice guy, but Gafur Rakhimov of Uzbekistan is the mobster boss/AIBA president.

.

Random fact in the AIBA saga:

Apparently Konakbayev starred in a feature film "Secrets of Madame Wong".

i don't really care , but i'd say yes , at least give them a chance to Tokyo 2020 and then see what'll happen , although i'm not really optimistic about changing things in AIBA

to give the athletes a chance, they still need to throw AIBA and their people away...

I'm in favor of keeping boxing into the Tokyo 2020 schedule only if IOC are brave enough to cancel AIBA from their recognized organizations, declare all the until now AIBA officials (at any level) "not entitled to cover any role in the new Boxing World Governing Body" and create this new governing body for the Olympic Boxing, finding new faces to run the organization and, above all, new people, mainly former athletes themselves, to form a new jury/refs panel...

that's the only acceptable compromise to save the fighters...

p.s. and they should throw the pros out of that, too...

I read somewhere, maybe aroundtherings website, that this was the intention of IOC: create a new boxing federation to be recognized granting it olympic participation

This sounds way too idealistic however.

There have been enough chances.

.

Also: pros should be able to enter the Olympics if they want to, otherwise it's just a B-competition like the football.

    • (Wow! I didn't know Vatican had ever sent any athletes anywhere.  That's cool!
    • Quite surprised that the  ladies beat !   (I also was shocked at the  loss.)
    • Nope, this is great!  Thanks!
    • This is a wanted behaviour so that in desktop the space is better optimized, while in mobile its shorter. Did you have something else in your mind on how to fix the issue?
    • Yes, though it is weird that on my laptop, I see the shooting logo on both sides of the word...but on my mobile, the graphic only shows to the left of the word (and can't even swipe to see). But the issue of the banner going off screen is fixed.
    • Would a page like this fix that issue? (ignore the format, just check if that issue would be solved).
    • did send one athlete to the last edition, but she was only allowed to compete as a "guest" since they don't yet have an NOC.
