Sparse crowds. Qual sessions in Birmingham were 80% full.

Mayer injured!

Well, sparse crowds are still better than no crowds, which is probably what you will see in Budapest next year at the qual sessions. :d (Seriously, athletics isn't a Hungarian sport at all, I am not sure how we will fill those 40.000 seats at the 2023 WCh.)

tbh, Munich's stadium is a 63,000 seater, Birmingham's was...how much, 12/15,000?

it looks that right now there are more than 10,000 people in the stands also in Munich...

p.s. love the family name of this Dutch guy...Van Gool!

p.s. a couple more "o"s would have been better, though...it would make him more "Latin American broadcaster"...:roflmao:

still, half the Munich's capacity...

and if you look at the 2 main stands, there's a decent crowd this morning...

if you like the empty stands, look at the swimming heats in Rome...there are no more than a few hundred people...

So,  pretty much the same number of Italians watching in the stands than Italians winning medals.

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.
