No, it's fastest men's and women's.

This event is more or less a two person show when courses are this uneven.

Yes, this is why FIS should change the rules. Only have one man and one woman per nation and have all athletes race on both courses. Would also help nations like Slovenia or Sweden who don't quite have the depth.

I highly doubt that. she was the only one on the red course getting very close to win a race

let me show you guys some statstics  , if we don't count CHN vs SUI . we had only and only one win from the red course (beside DNF wins) and that solitary win belongs to Shiffrin against Slovakia. I somehow think she was the best skier today

Yesh, Shiffrin on red lost to Bassino by 0,02! Most red losses for women were by at least 0,4 if not 0,7! Shiffrin would have smoked everyone on blue course most likely. USA will look back at this and realize how badly they blew this. DNF didn't mean jack shit here. Blue course winning times were the key. Radamus on blue course was fast enough to carry them but they put Moltzan on blue instead of Shiffrin.

Complete failure of the american team staff here, seriously how to mentally send your best athlete down even more and at the same time threw away your medal chance

Happy that Dürr and Straßer won a medal after all, but sad that Aicher will also get a medal. A bit tragic that Dürr again missed gold by 0.19 seconds as she already did in the slalom. Perfect end to the olympics for Austria, they simply couldn't do no wrong here. One of their best ever olympics with such a mediocre team (especially on the women's side) shows how incredibly lucky they were here. They easily won 6 or 7 more medals than they deserved.

Obviously I'm not familiar with the sport, but that seems so stupid. So theoretically a team can have 2 DNF and still win?

Probably the idea here is that Miki is so good to win on red and give a team big advantage but... 🤔

A bit of a mess up by IOC to first tell everyone that only athletes who actually raced will get medals, just to go back on that shortly before the race (according to german TV). Germany didn't want to take any chances, so they used their replacement (Rauchfuss) instead of Strasser in the final.

    • Ooooooh the group of Canada , they play in Toronto then Vancouver ...look at the distance
    • now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th
    • Rare thing not to see Hancock winning gold.
    • USA will.play in California then Seattle then California ...why hell this long distance , teams should stay in 1 place , this is tiring even for spectators
    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
