Ski Jumping at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

And that's it for international ski jumping from Zhangjiakou, I guess. Or ski jumping in general, I doubt we'll ever hear anything again from especially these Chinese guys... :(

I hope I'm wrong, obviously, but this seems like a typical sport where they'll disappear back into nowhere.

Actually there is an idea we can have an Asian swing in November & December (followed by Nizhny Tagil) since the early rounds are usually tough to go around due to lack of snow & frost in Europe. I'm unsure Sapporo would like to ditch the mid-January date though. Various vanues have been used for the early November slot and Kuopio/Kuusamo has been ravaged by wind several times, Wisla basically needs artificial snow and it costs a ton (they would like to be a Zakopane double-header in January) while Klingenthal has filled in as the minor German venue since Four Hills is fixed and Willingen is the otherwise popular German round. There is also Titisee-Neustadt & Oberstdorf ski flying to rotate on the calendar.

Peter Prevc really "loves" valentines day. 2015 he won in Vikersund with a WR. 2016 he won again this time with a fall no less. And now he won a silver medal. Source :

Incredible piece of trivia: the only sport where every Canadian athlete competing in Beijing 2022 won a medal is… ski jumping. And it's also the only country who's ski jumpers all won a medal. As we all predicted.

So they emulated :SMR‘s shotgun team, huh?

This is much more ridiculous than :SMR winning three medals in Tokyo.

    • I will do my best to organise a pairs competition also involving nations from the 4 teams that are eliminated in the first half of the team competition along with the lowest ranked individual nations at the halfway point (end of session 2) to form 8 pairs. Pairs will be balanced so that the highest ranked nation in the competition will be paired with the lowest ranked nation, second highest with the second lowest and so on. All of that will be based on the individual ranking at the halfway point.   This way every nation will have at least interest in some event until the end of the 3rd session.   I will probably base it closely on @mrv86‘s proposed rules, and have sprints every 3 rounds of votes. The pairs with most medals from those 3 rounds get the points along with an extra bonus for medal and points doubles.   I do only have 1 day to organise this now so I can’t promise anything though.

    • The two-woman quota is based upon the "combined" ranking. The 6 best monobob + 6 best 2-woman results are taken into account at the moment (7 once this week's WC race has been raced).  Weiszewski competed in Europe Cup yesterday in the monobob, finishing 2nd, which gave her 110 points. This was her 7th monobob race, so this result replaced her worst (80 points), helping her leapfrog Cernanska by 8 points. At this point I guess she's in a better spot, as she's got the same room for improvement in the two-woman today, while Cernanska probably won't compete that well in the WC.
