The world record in the men’s 3000m is 3:37.28. I’m guessing these training races don’t count.

Yuskov, Pedersen, Bosker, Bloemen (among others) all have been faster than that, usually they don't count because they have four skaters in the track instead of two. Roest, Kramer and even Bart Swings were all faster than Ervik's WR as well last year in December (Roest and Kramer both going sub-3:36 as well).

Roest's 3:35.26 of last year seems to be the fastest ever time not done in a race with four skaters.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Professional sports have all been cancelled or something?

Quebec is locking down tighter than the rest of Canada. Pro sports aren’t cancelled outright, my guess is that the logistics just weren’t workable.

They had to get a special exemption from the provincial government just to hold the event. That was granted three days ago, but right after that the government tightened COVID rules.

They have finally (finally!) acknowledged their dumb "third athlete can't qualify by time ranking" rule. But they still manage to make it super confusing xD

I do not understand anything because they do not respect the rule that the third skater cannot enter if he is not among the top 20?does not meet the classification criteria of the classification rules

No, they mark the third skaters in the time list as alternates. Notice they are highlighted in yellow.

There is two things wrong about the Wikipedia lists that I’ll have to correct - the thousandth of a second isn’t taken into account for the time ranking and third skaters per NOC can go on the reserve list even if they are beyond 30th place (500-1500) or 20th place (3000/5000) in the time tanking.

In 500 for example NOR has the third skater in Rànking position 33 and in the list he was in.
