I define success for a national team program as placing at or above your FIBA Rank-

Canada needed  a near A Team to beat an under-strength PR Team by a mere 9 points. I can tell you

right now Canada might not qualify for the 2024 Olympic Women's Basketball Tournament. And they 

most certainly will not medal at the 2024 Olympics. Canada's roster does not have ONE WNBA All-

Star, much less a world class player. Canada has a good jockey {Victor LaPena} riding an old sway-

back horse destined for the GLUE factory.

Hungary is most likely going 0-3 at the OQT, don’t see any way in which they advance over any of Canada, Spain, or Japan. 
 

Canada placed 4th at last years FIBA Women’s World Cup, and although they lost by 30 to Australia (in the bronze medal match), Lauren Jackson scored 30  points in her final international appearance. Plus, they had a bad game. 
 

To count them off as a medal contender at this stage is ridiculous. Puerto Rico is a solid team.  There’s a number of teams that could potentially advance to the knockout stages but could just as easily bomb out during the group stage. All about who shows up on the day.

We may not have a WNBA all-star, but we have some great players on our team.  Kia Nurse, Natalie Achonwa, Nirra Fields, Bridget Carlton, Kayla Alexander, Laeticia Amihere, Shay Colley etc. Not to mention young talent Aaliyah Edwards, and supporting players in Cassandre Prosper, and Syla Swords (she balled out during this tournament).
