Aaand the Iranian athlete withdraw... what luck for Vito :(

yeah since the 2nd period he was telling to his coach something like things like this "coach I can't walk. I can't even stand" they told him to withdraw if he can't but he told them he wants to finish this .

well the curse of not winning gold in GP events continues ! even though I accept the fact we are not a powerhouse in Taekwondo anymore :( but like other Asian countries (specially Korea) we saved our A team for the Asian Games. even though there were 3 world championship medalists in this team. so still something like A team. so no excuse not winning a single gold.

funny note. if we don't consider this as a defeat. the other 4 Iranian athletes lost to Russia !

yes, but he lost in 1/4 :(

Good that he competed anyway. How is he doing in the Olympic rankings? I know there is a long way to go but does he have a realistic chance to make Tokyo 2020?

unlikely through the ranking. but he will have his chance in European qualifiers. here he lost to the eventual gold medalist from Korea.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
