What is the required score in free skate?

The technical element score of 44.

They scored 39.21 in Finland.

Could you please elaborate on this a little?

Suffice to say, Eteri's girls end up having fairly short careers due to overtraining. And if their bodies continue growing (like it tends to happen with teenagers), then their technique becomes useless and they end their careers extremely abruptly (see Zagitova).

And this was while they were only doing the triples... Who knows what will become of the current quad pioneers...

  • 3 weeks later...

Interesting to see :BEL Hendrickx leading in Italy after the short program.

Severely underscored with just 73 pts. Any Russian skater would have been awarded 76-78 for the same performance. Medvedeva was always above 80 with literally the same elements.

This is how Tokyo looks for figure skating. Not a spare seat in the house! :)

They destroyed the Olympics and got away with it....

And they did it!

They scored 44.18 in Poland, meaning Lithuania will compete in figure skating after all.

Great news! I still hope for Amrbulevičius/Reed pair to sort out their citizenship as they been showing great form this season, but Ramansuakaitė/Kižala would make a history as first pair of Lithuanian-born skaters in Olympics.

According Japanese mainstream media asashi.com, Grand Prix Final scheduled in Japan has been cancelled due to the travel ban for foreigners over omicron variant concern. If ISU will relocate the GPF is not clear yet but I think the possibility is quite low given the insufficient preparation time.
