Wow, out of FA in K2 1000, that's a big surprise.
I have never seen someone being as above the rest of the field in Canoe Sprint as Carrington is, she's even more dominant than Kozák was in Rio, I will be really surprised if she doesn't win today. I don't feel good about Kozák's medal on the other hand, it's going to be a hard fight for the podium, hopefully one of our girls will finish in the Top3.
No in the K1 500 final, another disappointment for them after missing out on the K2 medal, the bad signs are piling up for them for K4.
Now that's a surprise, Heath messed up his heat and will have to race in the QF.
3/4 most likely in the bag for , K4 is the only event where we can maybe beat them. And by them I obviously mean Carrington.
Varga must be one of the youngest Olympic medalists ever in Canoeing, he's only 21 years old. Kopasz winning this is not a surprise, but I didn't expect Varga to pull this off, even Kopasz wasn't this talented at such a young age.
Boys, that's was unbelievable, 1-2 in an event where we didn't even win a medal for half of a century.
lol, false start on 1000m, they are really nervous.
ExpandI don't know much about ICF, but they must be known as absolutely horrible? I mean, is this event not exciting enough? One of the best finals of the entire Olympics..
ICF believes that people are bored by longer distances. Which is bullshit, this sport should be about endurance, 1000m should be the standard distance like 2000m in rowing.
Cuba helping the US to win the medal table.
Amazing final. Cuba is still not completely down in the world of sports.
Goodbye women's K1 200, you were never kind to us (Hungarians), but at least you gave the Canoeing community this big achievement from Carrington.
Well, so far we are the only ones benefitting from the two boat per NOC rule, maybe will also qualify two boats in one or two male events later.
That will be a close final between and
with maybe
or
as spoilers. The good news for us in K4 is that the 2nd
K2 boat is much stronger than the 2nd
K2 boat.
It probably looks ridiculous that I am complaining after the 1-2, but that start was quite bad for both of our boats, I hope they won't repeat that part in the final.
And wow, is out.
We sure are lucky with this two boats per NOC rule in K1 1000m, we weren't in medal contention for half of a century, this is pretty much the first time ever for us that we have two strong athletes in this events.
lol, at this rate they will break all the OBs thanks to the wind.
The C2 canoers must be "delighted" that they have to race this SF right before the final just to eliminate one boat.
That doesn't look good for us, unless Lucz was holding back, but this is 200m, so... The favorites for the medals are
as I think it was expected.
ExpandThat's smart from our C2 boat, they are saving their energy for the QF, they know that this heat is very likely too strong for them.
I was wrong, our boat is surprisingly weak. Someone will have to explain what happened here because this is embarrassing for Hungarian canoeing.
Well, if this first day is any indication, women's kayak is v
this time, let's see if we can win at least one gold or if the Kiwis will sweep. I have very little doubts about that Carrington is winning the two individual events, we will have to beat them in K2 and K4 somehow.
ExpandQuite stupid progression system, singles and doubles can't avoid the SF, so 2 runs on the day of the final.
F.e. 14 starters in C2-1000, 10 will make the SF, 5-5 each SF only to eliminate 1 pair in each SF that is approx 2 hours before the final.
Yeah, this can seriously mess up the program of some athletes. Like, it will be incredibly hard for Carrington, and to a lesser extent for some of our athletes who will compete in 3 events.
is here to challenge the Germans for the men's C2 gold.
That's smart from our C2 boat, they are saving their energy for the QF, they know that this heat is very likely too strong for them.
Yep, Carrington is fast as usual, has a chance to go for 4/4.

Good thing that we had two boats in this event, Béke/Varga was supposed to be our #1 K2 boat based on the Hungarian trials and now they are in FB while our #2 boat is in FA.
