Stronger SF from both and
than us. I honestly think that
can and maybe will win this.
I hope the girls were saving their energy for the final because if not... I am starting to have some serious doubts about the gold.
Damn, so close for Adolf, maybe next time.
And Brendel isn't in FA, another shocker for , but I think they will still win a medal in C1.
ExpandOut of curiousity, is Adolf a common surname in Hungary? I'd love him to win even if it's just so I can write a cheap-scoring headline about "Adolf takes Olympic gold"

Just like ones in previous years about "Erdogan takes world title in weightlifting" and "Trump defeated by Iran" (which was snooker)

Adolf is a surname I've never seen before though.
I think it's not that common here.
Oh fuck, Adolf is in the stronger SF, he has to eliminate a medal contender to qualify.
ExpandI guess it was planned to do only the 1st half of the distance this time.
But in K4 W. - 12 boats, and there are 3 rounds to eliminate 4 boats before the final. Great.
Considering how new this Hungarian K4 boat is, this is the one time I am glad they will have to race multiple times.
lol the boat just said at 250m "You know what? Fuck this heat."
Maybe the Russians also didn't take the heat seriously, so medal favorite
are in the SF.
Another slap in the face for in men's K4.
After some disappointing events for them, it looks like the German MK4 boat is working as expected.
A really disappointing heat for
is looking strong, maybe they can even fight for the gold.
for the medals, which was expected based on the previous women's kayak events here.
Yeah, is very dangerous in K4, our girls can't make any mistakes in the final.
on the other hand continues to disappoint, which is good news for
A really interesting WK4 heat is coming up with
What a race from Adolf against two (gold) medal contenders! He defeats Brendel, who now has to race again in the QF. Finally some signs of Hungarian life in men's canoe. It looks like our C2 boat really only failed because Fejes.
Is weak in women's C2? What happened in that heat? I thought that they are back to being the favorites after the drama of the last few years.
This is now a huge opportunity for to win a gold.
Speaking of the two boats per race: at this point it's safe to say that only benefitted from this rule. I wouldn't be surprised if we got back to one boat per event for the next Games when only one country is taking full advantage of it, I assume the others aren't happy about that they are fighting two Hungarian boats while they can't qualify two boats for FA.
ExpandDisgusting performance by the German team so far, hopefully they will lose all funding. A bit surprising that Russian isn’t winning anything, given that other classic doping countries (Hungary, China) seem to have profited a lot from the pandemic.
We sure are benefitting from the pandemic, except nope, in most events we are performing like in 2019, just with two boats per event instead of one. Someone like Csipes didn't come out of nowhere, she was always this strong, she just couldn't defeat Kozák at the trials and we only had one boat per event.
Anyway, this is a terrible Games for Europe in Canoe Sprint so far in terms of gold medals, only 1984 is comparable where won 4 gold medals, but obviously many of the strongest countries missed that Games.
is in danger of not winning any gold medals, if we ignore 1984 this would be the first time since 1972 without a German gold. Fortunately for them men's K4 is still coming up as their last chance (there's also MC1), similarly to how K4 is our last chance to beat the Kiwis in women's kayak.
ExpandGot it! 4TH PLACE!
To be fair, before the Games I would have said that we won't be in the Top6 in this event, huge improvement from Nádas/Kopasz, good sign for the future.
Yep, another 4th place, this really is that kind of Olympic Games for us. Still a good result for , I didn't expect a medal in this event.
Big disappointment for , second lost gold after MC2 where they were the favorites.
Great race from Csipes, this was definitely Carrington's hardest fight at these Games.
And we are collecting the 4th places even here, two 4th places today.
No matter what happens with K2 and K4, the fact that we went from the 0 medals of men's kayak in Rio to 2 gold and 1 silver of Tokyo in the individual events is unbelievable, perfect outcome for us in these events.
Terrible moment for the US in athletics, but here's their first Canoe Sprint gold in a very long time.
At the last K1 200 of the Olympic Games it finally gave us an Olympic champion. Tótka won thanks to his amazing start.

I think you have never been this strong in women's K4 before and you have already surprised us in K2. Our first 250m was shit twice now, if you will have a huge lead in the final at the halfway point, which I am afraid of, I doubt that we can turn things around in such a short distance.
