  2. I’m going with But I wouldn’t be surprised if win
  3. Today
  4. @Topicmaster1010 I don’t disagree with you about them being the top two favourites in the women’s 100m butterfly, but for silver there’s a bunch of names really close to Huske. Yufei, MacNeil, Kohler, and McKeon (didn’t have the best of Trials, but I can never count her out) will also be in the mix for the minor medals.
  5. @intoronto according to this, Walker had a 1227 point performance! https://athleticscalculator.com/rns/ranking At the Edmonton Athletics Invitational, for 4th in 56.78, she recorded 1178 points. At the Last Chance Qualifier, for 2nd in 56.18, 1146 points. At the Ed Moses Legends meet, she finished 5th in 56.94, but will net 1168 points. What I’m saying is that a strong top two performance at Olympic Trials, might (maybe should) be enough to secure her spot through World Rankings. Hope she competes at the Montreal meet to make sure of it.
  6. From calculations we had in a WhatsApp group with a few of the heads of the Israeli archery federation, we will have 2 archers, a male and a female even if they all not qualify today they will get it from the ranking
  7. The men's team is virtually qualified. In women's team rankings and occupy the top two spots. For not getting the spot, following scenarios need to happen in World Cup needs minimum 4th needs silver need gold
  8. Yeah, the Olympic ranking was out shortly after the individual competitions finished. Finally happy that 2 men can go. I was checking the late results. Despite Kuf is ahead of Grycz I would guess Czech team may decide Grycz to go. Kuf did not perform well in both individual and mixed relay, Grycz has lately better results and if they did not banned him to start jumping event at the WCH because the horse he was appointed to got injured, he would have certainly fought for a medal or maybe the worst around 7th place which would surely secure him a spot from the ranking. Kuf fought for a medal in Tokyo but screwed up his combined event and the same in the qualification in Zhengzhou. This time, I would rather nominate Vlach, who amazingly jumped up from 18th to 8th in the final and Grycz. Both of them could be dark horses in the competition.
  9. US Olympic Trials: Day 2 Finals: Men's 400m Individual Medley (OQT: 4:12.50): 1. Carson Foster - 4:07.64 Q 2. Chase Kalisz - 4:09.39 Q? 3. Jay Litherland - 4:12.34 4. Ian Grum - 4:15.06 5. Tommy Bried - 4:15.15 6. Kyle Ponsler - 4:16.53 7. Gregg Enoch - 4:17.64 8. Danny Berlitz - 4:17.65 Carson Foster gets redemption from his 3rd place finish 3 years ago. Really happy for the guy. He was clearly really emotional about it after the race. Chase Kalisz will also likely be headed to his 3rd Olympics. Women's 100m Butterfly (OQT: 57.62) 1. Gretchen Walsh - 55.31 Q 2. Torri Huske - 55.52 Q? 3. Regan Smith - 55.62 4. Claire Curzan - 57.47 5. Kelly Pash - 57.72 6. Beata Nelson - 57.80 7. Lillie Nordmann - 57.92 8. Emma Sticklen - 58.44 Insanely fast times. With this race, we had Gretchen Walsh swimming the 2nd fastest performance of all time and Torri Huske and Regan Smith becoming the 3rd and 4th fastest performers of all time. Walsh and Huske will enter Paris as the favorites for gold and silver. Men's 100m Breaststroke (OQT: 59.49) 1. Nic Fink - 59.08 Q 2. Charlie Swanson - 59.16 Q? 3. Josh Matheny - 59.23 4. Liam Bell - 59.40 5. Noah Nichols - 59.69 6. Jake Foster - 59.84 7. Luke Rodarte - 59.85 8. Michael Andrew - 1:00.11 There were some doubts about him qualifying yesterday but Nic Fink delivered his best race of trials tonight to qualify in 1st for his 2nd Olympic Team. Charlie Swanson also continued his good form to likely qualify for his first Olympic Team. Semi-finals: Advancing to Men's 200m Freestyle Final: 1. Kieran Smith - 1:45.39 2. Luke Hobson - 1:45.58 3. Drew Kibler - 1:45.82 4. Jake Mitchell - 1:46.43 5. Blake Pieroni - 1:46.52 6. Brooks Curry - 1:46.60 7. Chris Guiliano - 1:46.83 8. Aaron Shackell - 1:46.95 (Won swimoff) Advancing to Women's 100m Breaststroke Final: 1. Lilly King - 1:05.57 2. Kaitlyn Dobler - 1:06.42 3. Emma Weber - 1:06.48 4. Lydia Jacoby - 1:06.66 5. Kaelyn Gridley - 1:06.67 6. Alex Walsh - 1:06.87 7. Ella Nelson - 1:07.41 8. McKenzie Siroky - 1:07.73 Should be an easy qualification for King. Lots of people thought Jacoby would be a lock for the 2nd spot but it looks like that won't quite be the case here. McKenzie Siroky qualifying for the final is pretty impressive since she's an ice hockey player and only started to swim full time recently. Also the 46 year old Gabrielle Rose placed 10th in a new PB of 1:08.32 Advancing to Men's 100m Backstroke Final: 1. Ryan Murphy - 52.65 2. Adam Chaney - 53.08 3. Jack Aikins - 53.23 4. Hunter Armstrong - 53.57 5. Tommy Janton - 53.61 6. Jack Wilkening - 53.70 7. Justin Ress - 53.78 8. Will Modglin - 53.83 A heart stopping moment happened in the 2nd semifinal where Hunter Armstrong slipped off the starting blocks and was way behind. However, he managed to still finish 2nd and qualify. Assuming there aren't any issues in the final, he and Murphy should have no trouble qualifying. Advancing to Women's 200m Freestyle Final: 1. Katie Ledecky - 1:55.25 2. Claire Weinstein - 1:55.86 3. Paige Madden - 1:56.36 4. Erin Gemmell - 1:56.53 5. Katie Grimes - 1:57.19 6. Alex Shackell - 1:57.42 7. Anna Peplowski - 1:57.55 8. Simone Manuel - 1:57.63 You will notice relay regular Bella Sims not listed. That's because she finished 17th in prelims and failed to qualify for the semifinals. This was after a disastrous 400m freestyle performance yesterday. Unfortunately, it looks like her chances of making the Olympic Team are basically over. Qualifiers after Day 2 (10 athletes): Priority 1: 1st place winners (5 swimmers) Nic Fink - M 100m Breaststroke, M 4x100m Medley Relay Carson Foster - M 400m Individual Medley Katie Ledecky - W 400m Freestyle Aaron Shackell - M 400m Freestyle Gretchen Walsh - W 100m Butterfly, W 4x100m Medley Relay Priority 2: Top 4 in 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle Priority 3: Other 2nd place finishers (5 swimmers) *Not guaranteed selection - Need 6 doubles per gender Torri Huske - W 100m Butterfly, W 4x100m Medley Relay Chase Kalisz - M 400m Individual Medley Paige Madden - W 400m Freestyle Kieran Smith - M 400m Freestyle Charlie Swanson - M 100m Breaststroke, M 4x100m Medley Relay Priority 4: 5th place finishers in 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle *Not guaranteed selection - Need 8 doubles per gender Priority 5: 6th place finishers in 100m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle *Not guaranteed selection - Need 10 doubles per gender
  10. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C25FNwfOM7u/?igsh=YjdxOGwxeWJibHps “#Paris2024” https://www.instagram.com/reel/C40fLuysIAm/?igsh=d254bHJndnU3YmE4 According to this post from late March (22, to be exact), she’s been training. She could have retired since then, but I’m not quite so sure. Maybe there’s a minor injury, and she’s using this time to recover for the Olympics? Hopefully (not the injury, but that she hasn’t retired) she’ll be in Paris. Even if she gets overtaken on the Road to Paris individually in the 100m, surely she’ll be on the relay.
  11. Scenarios for Canadian men to qualify for the Olympics (Track Events) (only in areas where quotas aren’t guaranteed, which is why you’re not seeing the men’s 100m/200m/3000m steeplechase) @intoronto did the women. I’ll do a rundown on the field events tomorrow (sometime before Wednesday at the latest) Note, some athletes updated ranking points (Harry Jerome Classic), I’m too lazy to calculate, so I’ll wait for the updated Road to Paris rankings to update. There’s also a meet in Montreal on June 21, entry list isn’t officially out yet, but as soon as it’s over, there’ll be a second update. Men’s 400m - Only 8 quotas are available through the Road to Paris rankings, and all of our athletes are nowhere near one. They’ll need to reach the entry standard of 45.00. Michael Roth, Austin Cole, Myles Misener-Daley, and Tyler Floyd are ones to watch out for. Callum Robinson, maybe, he ran well at the WA Relays, but has struggled in his individual 400m races. Men’s 800m - Zakary Mama-Yari and Matti Erickson are in PB setting form, but will need to chop off another second and a bit in order to reach the Olympic standard. Abdullahi Hassan will also need to most likely reach the Olympic standard. Not impossible for the three, but not likely either. No chance through the Road to Paris rankings for any of them (actually, it depends on if Abdullahi Hassan competes on June 21, and performs well enough) Men’s 1500m - Kieran Lumb looks safe (40/45th, 1249 points with the Harry Jerome Classic not yet updated, 35 points clear of 46th), but if he can replicate his 3:34.50 from last year in addition to finishing 1st, it should guarantee him a spot through the Road to Paris rankings. Men’s 5000m - Thomas Fafard is the form of his life, and was so close to reaching the 13:05.00 Olympic standard (he was 0.07 off) about a month ago in Belgium. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t qualify automatically, but even if he doesn’t he should be one of the athletes in the rankings on the Road to Paris. He could go 13:20, and finish 2nd, that would net him 1217 points, putting him at an adjusted total of 1215 points, 41st in the Road to Paris but 27 points ahead of 43rd, and that might be enough. 13:15 would net him 1235 points (as long as he finishes 2nd), putting him at an adjusted total of 1221 points, 39th in the Road to Paris and 33 points ahead of 43rd. That should be more than enough. Men’s 110m Hurdles According to my calculations, Craig Thorne’s recent 13.48 got him 1222 points, and his recent 13.72 got him 1175 points. Neither have been updated on the Road to Paris page. That would put him at 1207 points overall, or 43rd in the rankings. 13.50 and 1st, would be 1258 points, and increase his overall score to 1214 points and 42nd in the Road to Paris. Unfortunately, it’ll probably require a 13.30-13.33 to get into a World Rankings quota, and like @intoronto said it’ll still be close. Men’s 400m Hurdles Malik Metivier opened up his season a week ago, with a very solid time of 49.07, just 0.37 away from the Olympic standard of 48.70. Unfortunately, he’s been injured since 2022, and this was his first race of the season, so no chance through the Road to Paris.
  12. Men’s individual livestream (Mexican VPN)
  13. In men’s they are assured to be on of the top two no matter what, while in women’s they need to finish 9th or worse and for every other team to finish in the podium, so I’d say 99% in.
  14. Small is a big small Bingham is not registered for nationals, and tbh i think she is retired.
  15. As per usual, Guatemala's NOC is useful and has provided more qualification systems for Asuncion 2025 Jr Pan Am Games.
  16. Just to explain a bit, the country holding the presidency of the 9-country bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates) should also host the Games. This yeas was supposed to be Brazil, but as Brazil also holds the G20 Summit, it exchanged the BRICS presidency with Russia and all its events - now BRICS games is one of them. Fortaleza would be a wonderful host!! perhaps many beach sports could be included.
  17. What about Bingham? She’s 51st out of 56 possible quotas in the women’s 100m. Also, how does MacDonald have a small chance at Paris? Her PB is 600+ points shy of the standard, and she’s no where close through the rankings. @intoronto
  18. Here are the scenarios for Women to qualify via ranking 100m: Sade McCreath: Needs to get an increase of minimum 60 points, she can do this by finishing in the top 2 at Nationals and a time of 11.21 (unlikely she finishes first, so will need that time or better) 200m: Jacqueline Madogo; needs 15 or more points. With a top 2 finish at nationals, she would easily get this (second place is 80 points, and would replace the 15 points for ranking in her lowest score) 400m: 3 in top 48; Konrad has the last spot, but Price is fourth and the better performing athlete. Price will need a win at nationals and a time 51.42 (her SB) 800m: Shukla + Rynda in top 48; but in the bottom three positions. They will need top 2 finishes at nationals with a time below 2:02 to cement their spots. 1500m: Two in top 45; Third place Current cannot qualify unless she finishes first at nationals and a time of 4:04.05 or less (below her PB 5000m: Regan Yee is in the quotas, but i dont think she will race it. Staehli/Scott/Debeus Stafford are just outside (45 and 48 for the first 2). 42 will qualify. Satehli is injured and will not qualify. Scott's performance at the HJ's will bump her to within 15~ points of a quota. If she can replicated her performance at nationals she would qualify. 10,000 N/A 110m hurdles: No one else can qualify besides Abdul-Rashid/Harrison 400m hurdles: No Sutherland at nationals, which opens it up for Walker/Overholt. If Overholt wins with a time around 56 seconds she will easily be in the top 40. Will wait for next weeks rankings to comment on Walker. 3000m steeplechase: Unlikely a third qualifies (after Mcabe and Yee). Fetherstonhaugh will need a huge PB to even move up Heptathlon: Looks bleak, only one athlete stands a remote change of qualifying: Sienna Macdonald will need to basically hit the entry standard to qualify. First time since 2004 no Canadians will be in the field. Ill do the field events tomorrow. @Josh will do the men's events.
  19. The 10 we're sending to Belgrade isn't even quite a B-team. We're arguably sending a stronger team to the Euro Jnrs in Vilnius than we are here. The Euros were decided by British Swimming that it was the 3rd priority meet for the summer.
  20. If ICC truly wants to expand the game, they can do the following 1) Include nearby associate nations in minimum T20 tournaments in bilateral tours. Better if 1-2 games can be hosted by the associate nation. For example, let's say India is touring England for T20, ODI and Test series let there be a T20 with Scotland, Netherlands, England, Ireland, India. Similarly, any team touring the subcontinent can have Nepal, Malaysia and Hong Kong 2) Include atleast 1 player from a pool of top associate nations in teams of top franchise leagues like IPL, BBL, PSL. This player should play 30% of league games. For example, in IPL teams play 14 league games, so an associate nation player must play 4 games. This will improve exposure of associate players
  21. UIPM updated their Olympic ranking, includingresults from World Championships. Respecting the 2 quotas per NOC (irrespective of who could they take), I'll post the positions to be awarded, as well as the possible reallocations of the tripartite quota /AIN athletes (in parenthesis).- Women's (6+4): ( ) Men's (6+5): ( )
  22. So at Nationals, a 62.00m be enough to increase her total to 1134 points, and 30th. 61.00m would put her in 31st, and 1132 points. 62.50m should be enough, and 61-00m-62.00m would be cutting it close.
  23. Here's the entry list. Definitely a weaker field compared to previous years. France is absent because they have their Olympic Trials this week. Spain is also absent because they also have their Olympic Trials. Great Britain and Germany are sending B Teams. The Italian Team will be at the Sette Colli Trophy The Dutch team just finished their national championships and also will be at the Sette Colli Trophy However, almost all the European athletes from the smaller European countries that are chasing OQTs will be here so it will basically have the feel of an Olympic Trials. Plus, there'll still be a few stars like Popovici, Milak, and Kos.
  24. 1104 points and 59.07m for Tunks at the Harry Jerome Classic, improving to 35th (+1) and 1109 points in the road to Paris.
  25. Why don't they held a tournament for those Quotas just 1 week before olympics
