I'm trying to win the award for most obvious question of the year.

Strong rumors going that Slovakia will play all Preliminary Round matches in Košice :d because last time in 2011 they played in Bratislava, this time they want change it and bring the NT to the east part of the country. https://sport.sme.sk/c/20825220/slovensko-by-na-ms-v-hokeji-2019-malo-hrat-v-kosiciach.html

After the quarterfinals it looks like we will have RUS, SWE ?, CZE, GER ?, LAT, SVK, AUT and ITA  in the group Košice

and CAN, FIN, USA ?, SUI ?, NOR, DEN, FRA, GBR in the group Bratislava

but other rumors are saying that Austria will be seeded to Bratislava (so 80km from Vienna) and replaced by FRA in Košice. Pretty sure the same will happen with the Czech team, in this case it will be replaced by USA in Košice...but lets wait, everything will be official after the current tournament and we still have to wait for the final rankings of the 4 semifinalists here to know the real seedings of SWE, USA, SUI, GER

And it´s Official !!!!

Slovakia will play all preliminary round matches in KOŠICE !!!!  can you even believe it ? I can not even describe the feeling when I heard the official news in the radio. Wow I feel like a kid that everyone forgets in a pastry shop the whole night or so  :d this is really something that can happen only once in a life

Spoiler

Originally Slovakia had to play with RUS, SWE, CZE, SUI, LAT, AUT and ITA, in Bratislava was scheduled the group B with CAN, FIN, USA, GER, NOR, DEN, FRA and GBR

but the organizing committee has possibility to make some changes in order to protect it´s marketing interests, like put CZE and AUT to Bratislava near their border. there were two possible options and the organizing committee decided to swap SVK with NOR and just change the groups from Bratislava to Košice, so weĺl play CAN, FIN, USA, GER, DEN, FRA and GBR in Košice...

Anyway there still a slim problem, since apparently Canada is not happy with this decision and apparently already announced that they don´t want to play in Košice...

they could switch CAN and RUS and everybody would be happy, I guess...:d

p.s. for Italy these groups (RUS or CAN doesn't make any difference) are better than expected...having AUT and NOR in our group, gives us a more than slim chance to avoid relegation...honestly, those 2 teams are the only ones we can play with thinking that we can get a positive result against them...

p.p.s. I remember going to the Worlds here in Milan in 1994...it was an amazing and unforgettable experience...so, enjoy this opportunity as much as you can...;)

The only possible swap can be CAN for SWE, but I don´t see this realistic, They will certainly not have more fans than Sweden to put them in Bratislava

I was in 2011 at CAN-FRA game and it was something unbelievable, + I enjoyed every second of the tournament, I remember the French and Swiss fans making great atmosphere in the local pubs :d

But this will be even better with our National team. Hopefully I´ll grab some tickets. wow, I´m so excited :bounce:

    • Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Let's do this for a country that is not actually that good in winter sports as well as our Olympic Committee Declining lots of places. • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
    • Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
    • Shemyakina that was a very strange story. She unexpectedly won the games but before and after she literally achieved nothing. After that success in 2012 she also completely disappeared. It's only in epee that such strange situations. That's why I've always preferred foil and sabre, because the top was more stable there, although that's changing now. The competition has grown a lot all over the world.
