  1. Now, we have a special announcement. Twice a year, users from around the world reunite here in Totallympics in a big celebration of the universal language of music - hence our official motto "Music connects the world". From Algeria to Italy, and Kazakhstan to Venezuela, more than 50 nations have participated at least one time throughout the 10 editions of the contests, with countries representing Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and the Americas. We take this opportunity to present the official Totallympics Contests logo: the globe represents the global nature of the contest - while the headphones emphasize that the contest revolves around music. Now we present the logo, a collective effort between @dcro, @OlympicIRL and @vinipereira.
  2. Continuing with the contemporary music session this night, the Swedish singer and songwriter Zara Larsson - one of our participants this year with the song "Only You"- will join the British electronic music band Clean Bandit at stage. They will perform "Symphony". The song, which has some classic music elements, was the theme for our official motto this year.
  3. Last year, a song choice made a whole lot of difference for Brazil at the Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2017. With "Hear Me Now", by DJ Alok, Bruno Martini feat. the singer Zeeba, Brazil achieved its best result ever with 142 pts. The runner-up position at the contest made possible for Brazil to host the annual contest this year. The talented trio is back this evening for an acoustic performance of the hit song.
  4. Since the first edition of the Totallympics International Song Contest, the Festival of Music has often showcased the music from nations which are not with us in the contest - and this year wasn't different. Voters presented us a total of 23 songs that represent the rhythms and sounds of countries from 5 continents. This edition, we asked Totallympics to choose the songs that would have the opportunity of being performed at our Gala. Now it's time to reveal the most voted ones! 5. That was beautiful, but perhaps a little bit sad? Making things fun, the Orchestra will now perform the famous Beatles song "With a little Help From My Friends". The idea of the mixing classical with pop-rock music was a huge success for the Orchestra, peforming in many cities of Brazil and abroad. On a personal note, this song is a tribute to all the friends who helped us get here - and by that, we mean all of you that made the Totallympics Contests what they are today.
  6. After the end of the Dinner portion of the evening, the guests are now invited to take a seat at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro where we will have some musical acts performing to end the night in great style. Stage for many classical and otherwise musicians, tonight it couldn't be different. Doing most of the music this evening, the Orquestra Ouro Preto comes from the Minas Gerais city that hosted some of our guests this year. Even though was only founded in the year 2000, the Orchestra is considered to be one of the most prestigious music ensemble of the nation, being nominated for a Latin Grammy for their album in 2007. Starting the Music portion of the Gala, a beautiful rendition of the traditional christian hymn "Amazing Grace" - with artistic direction of conductor Rodrigo Toffolo.
  7. Finishing tonight's dinner, two options of dessert. The first one, Açaí, is a extremely popular berry in Brazil, served here as a mousse topped with brazilian nuts. The second (and maybe less typical) option is a pineapple dessert with a lemongrass-flavored topping. The detail here is that the delicacy is served with a beautiful leaf-cutting Sauva ant!
  8. For the main course, a typical dish with brazilian flavours. The Pirarucu, whose habitat is the Amazon River, is here cooked with banana leaves, bringing the flavours of the North region to the plate. A farofa of manioc (tubers largelly appreciated in most brazilian tables) flour and herb stems also make up the dish.
  9. Known for his molecular food, the chef opted for a vegetarian dish to start the Menu. The green tomato gel entrée combine the flavours of leaves that are typically found at the Amazon forest with Peruvian toasted corn, bringing to the dish South American roots. To finish things off, sprouts and edible flowers.
  10. Now that all guests have arrived, they've been invited to the beautiful Assyrian hall at the Theatre. There, they will enjoy a three-course brazilian meal, consisting of an entrée, the main course, and a dessert. Although influenced by African, European, and Amerindian styles, the Brazilian cuisine varies greatly by region, reflecting the country's mix of native and immigrant populations, and its continental size as well. Ingredients first used by native peoples in Brazil include açaí, guaraná, cumaru, cashew and tucupi. From there, the many waves of immigrants brought some of their typical dishes in the nation - contributing for the amazing mixture of flavors. D.O.M., a brazilian restaurant by chef Alex Atala, achieved its best position in the World's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2012, placing 4th (1st in South America). Tonight, the chef will be responsible for the Menu. Let's start with the entrée!
  11. Now that we've met all the teams, we'll announce the Rules for the upcoming Team Challenge, the first in TISC history! 1) Team scores will be determined by adding together scores of all team members. 2) Additionally, every team will get three turns of power-play. During the power-play turns, every point scored by Brazil will be assigned to the team that currently holds the power-play privilege. The power-play order was determined by a random draw and will be as follows: Votes 2-4: Team Natal Votes 5-7: Team Ouro Preto Votes 8-9, 11: Team Gramado Votes 12-14: Team Manaus Votes 15-17: Team Fernando de Noronha Votes 18-20: Team Salvador Votes 21-23: Team Foz de Iguaçu Votes 24-26: Team Cuiabá Votes 27-29: Team Brasília Votes 30-32: Team São Luís 3) After the initial power-play stage is completed, the teams will be ranked by their power-play points. During the final 10 votes (33-42), every team will get an additional power-play turn. Power-play order in this final stage will be the reverse order of power-play rankings of the initial stage (votes 2-32). For the purposes of Team Challenge, Brazilian points assigned to team scores will be doubled in this final reverse order stage. 4) Whichever team ends this contest with the most power-play points will get Brazil as the 5th team member. Brazil's final score will not be assigned to the team concerned, but the team will get an additional 50 points bonus instead!
