  1. They're with another athlete, so I'm not sure if Argentina will win gold but a medal is likely.
  2. Oh the drama. And the World Cup hasn't even started yet
  3. Brazil managed to win a bronze medal in the 4x100m men's relay with a "improvised" team that included an athlete from the 400m event and another from decathlon. We would also participate in the 4x100m women's relay with a long jumper, but I guess they didn't try. I think only 3 nations have participated and that's a little ridiculous?
  4. That bronze in Field Hockey made me more happy than most medals Brazil won here.
  5. Colombia is winning all golds in Boxing so first place is probably secured with Brazil im second. It will be interesting to see who will end in 3rd, 4th and 5th, since Argentina, Chile and Venezuela are pretty close. It seems like Chile will be 5th, and Argentina and Venezuela will fight for 3rd.
  6. Guyana wins its first medal with a bronze in athletics (Men's 400m)
  7. Just like in women's, Argentina and Brazil have qualified for the Pan American Games in men's handball.
  8. I personally like the decision to send less athletes and weaker teams in many sports, but I just don't understand how we are represented by "B" teams (or didn't even send athletes) for sports we're just "okay" (like Boxing, Cycling, Diving, Artistic Swimming, Rowing, Weightlifting etc). For me, we should always have "A" teams in sports in which we're far from the best, even if we don't win golds.
  9. Just a fun fact. Graziela Paulino (who won the women's individual recurve in archery) is indigenous. In 2016, the athlete from Amazon tried to be the first indigenous person to represent Brazil in the Olympic Games, but didn't qualify. Maybe she has a chance for 2020...
  10. Many more to come with Diving, Boxing, Wrestling... they'll definitely finish in first place.
  11. Colombia 1 gold ahead of Brazil in the medal table. Again an uneventful day, but next 4 days will be really interesting with a little over 150 events to go.
  12. She was also the oldest athlete from our delegation in Rio 2016, I think.
  13. Couldn't agree more. With literally hundreds of events to go, they've picked only 4 sports to award medals today. Disappointing.
  14. Dani Piedade (Handball), world champion in 2013, announced her retirement yesterday.
  15. We're not even halfway through all events yet (174 out of 374 were completed so far), so I think we're only gonna have some idea about final positions in the medal table after Athletics starts on Tuesday.
  16. Not a great day for Brazil (to say the least), which was saved at the last minute with a unexpected bronze medal in Track Cycling - otherwise it would be 0 medals for us. Tomorrow won't be a great day either with only a few outside chances. Strange that the organization didn't schedule many events for Friday and Saturday.
  17. BTW, in a sports group with brazilian fans, this match was more followed/celebrated than most brazilian golds so far
  18. Gold for Bolivia
  19. As expected, Brazil and Argentina have qualified for the Pan American Games in women's handball.
  20. BTW, I think they cancelled the Women's Water Polo tournament prior to the Games because it had only 3 nations, so maybe the new rule to have a competition is 4.
  21. I think so. The Women's +78kg in Judo also have only 4 nations and they awarded medals. (unless the rule for individual events is different)
  22. Brazil's golden sports (Artistic Gymnastics/Swimming) have ended today and we're only 5 golds ahead of Colombia. The next days will be interesting, but I think Colombia has the upper hand with Track Cycling just starting.
  23. Did you like it? I think it's a good mascot.
  24. Okay, but you have to admit we were pretty lucky today in Pommel Horse and Women's Vault. Even if we have bad moments tomorrow, we already had these lucky moments today.
  25. Brazil won gold in Women's.
