  1. Yes, but not only about what happened, but about what will happen. Most telenovela fans don't care about spoilers and actually want them
  2. I think that was the first Netball match I've watched, and I enjoyed quite a bit. Great game by Jamaica!
  3. I guess we can say this is the "opening theme" of the telenovela? And yes, these are very popular here also
  4. I was listening to this song today (I was searching for some music from the nations that had participated at least once in the contest)
  5. I have added to the second post of this thread the section "Follow the Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2018", which contains important links that might be useful for some users. I know... I should have done this since the beginning of the contest, but better late than never, I guess
  6. For those interested in participating in the Festival of Music: even if you don't know the song yet, your can already pick 1 or 2 nations and post the songs later - please notice it that I already have chosen Australia and Chile On a side note, I want to thank @OlympicIRL for writing most of the opening post, and @dcro for the always great statistics (hope I didn't get anything wrong).
  7. In 10 editions of the Totallympics International Song Contest (Annual or Open editions), more than 50 nations across all continents have participated at least 1 time. This year, we have broken the record of most nations participating in the annual edition of the contest with 41 countries represented. Even so, we're missing some nations that have entered songs before, often a long time ago. Here, we honour them, hoping that some of these can be remembered in the Festival of Music - and maybe make a comeback to the competition in future contests.

  9. As we continue our celebrations for the 10th edition of TISC, today we mark the continuation of a tradition that was with us right from the start. That tradition is the Festival of Music. Since the very first edition of our contest back in 2013, TISC has proudly showcased the music from nations who sadly are not with us in the contest. Originating as a "Wish You Were Here" idea, The Festival of Music was born and it flourished into what would soon become a staple part of any TISC edition. This wonderful Festival takes centre stage in the run up to our live shows and it is here where we get a chance to say hello to all the nations of the world of music. Participating members have certainly embraced this Festival and it has provided us with a window to share in the music from the wider world. And, hopefully, one day some of the nations represented at the Festival of Music can someday be a part of our very own TISC celebration as participating members. Austria and Venezuela are two such graduates from the Festival of Music and we are delighted to welcome them into the TISC family for the very first time this year! As usual, Totallympics members are free to participate in the Festival, choosing 1 or 2 (max.) nations that are not registered at the Annual contest. For each nation, the user must pick one song (preferably) released on or after January 1st, 2017, showcasing recent records that could have taken part at our contest this year. Festival of Music entries will be accepted until the next Saturday (April 21st). For the first time ever, a poll will be open to decide 3 best songs that will be honored at the festivities two weeks from now. The table in the next post will be updated with the songs posted in the coming days - as hosts, Brazil picked its nations first
  10. Hi guys! Unfortunately I had a crazy week at work (still having, to be honest), so I have to delay the Festival of Music for some hours, more precisely to tonight at 20h00 (Brasília time), because I'm still preparing some things. As usual, the Festival will stay on for days so you guys can post songs from nations that aren't participating at the contest this year. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but I promise this won't happen at the weekend of the song contest - as I won't be working at my office on Saturday and have resquested to be free at Friday from my other job. Thank you all.
  11. Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia are moving on to the next phase.
  12. And not only that, wins against Ecuador, which is really really bad here. What a debacle for a team which was at the last World Cup - granted, they were also bad there.
  13. Fantastic gold for India in women's double trap!
  14. No, and even for a nation that is hosting I don't think is THAT important (unless you're Bolivia and can really have an improvement over the last editions). But like @carivan said, the Pan Ams matter a lot, much more than the European Games, of course.
  15. Well, there are pros and cons. As a sports fan, I would love if Brazil went ahead with our A team in most sports, but that's not realistic for this competition. So I think it's a good decision to send our best in sports where were are not that great (like Fencing, Field Hockey, Rugby, etc), and send young athletes (who can gain experience in a multi-sport competition) for the sports we have a better level.
  16. Official recommendation from our Olympic Committee to all federations is to send young athletes to all sports, although that's not an obligation and some sports might send the "A" team (unlikely for the big sports except maybe Athletics), especially the ones where Brazil is not that good like Fencing. Our young Judo team was announced: Men's Robson Penna (-60kg) Michael Marcelino (-66kg) David Lima (-73kg) Tiago Pinho (-81kg) Giovani Ferreira (-90kg) Leonardo Gonçalves (-100kg) João Cesarino (+100kg) Women's Larissa Farias (-48kg) Larissa Pimenta (-52kg) Gabrielle Gonzaga (-57kg) Gabriella Moraes (-63kg) Bruna Campos (-70kg) Laislaine Rocha (-78kg) Luiza Cruz (+78kg)
  17. and got the last spots for the upcoming Wheelchair Rugby World Championship. I have to say that the draw in this qualification tournament was pretty bad, since all teams from Group A have lost their semifinals/placing semifinals. But of course it also might be the fact that I'm still sad Brazil didn't qualify
  18. While I appreciate @Memo's response, I've decided not to allow Turkey's votes in this edition. I have read all of the participants' inputs and it seems pretty divided wether to allow this participation or not, both by reasons cited here and by other concerns I have. When it was time to register the songs, there was some talk about allowing users with no (or very little) participation on the forum, but then I've decided to follow the rules and allow Turkey's entry, mainly because the user was registered on Totallympics long enough (more than a year, I think, even if it was with a different account). So now it only seems fair that I follow the rules again. One thing is to extend a deadline for someone who asks for it (for any reason) or give any indication that they will vote, other is to allow votes after some important post-voting things already happened. Allowing such votes would definitely change some placings in the final ranking, and while that would be good for some nations, it wouldn't make others very happy - even if this contest is all about fun. I have talked privately with Memo and invited him to take part in our Festival of Music next weekend and in the upcoming Open contest later this year, if he wishes so. I hope we can move forward and next week I think we will have all the templates ready to go (I'm having trouble with the logo, but it should be presented soon).
  19. Actually, a GUEST user reported one of my posts and when I went to see the complaint, it was the votes (maybe they forgot the password again or maybe just general confusion about how the forum works?). Honestly, if they have sent his votes to me on time (and not to @amen09), it would have avoid this mess. But that was not the case and a few things happened in the mean time, including: the draw; counting the votes of everyone (pending Moldova's correction of a vote); starting working on the vote templates which are determined by the draw; and (spoiler) So yes, I'm all for the participation of different nations, but this is kind of a mess and to allow such votes now would mean that we'll have to restart some of the work that's already been done.
  20. Better match today for Brazil, facing a weaker adversary - I thought Ecuador could give us some trouble, but sadly they were much better four years ago.
  21. Thanks guys for the wonderful draw, especially @OlympicIRL and @dcro. I wasn't online for the most part, but I see now that was great fun
  22. Also, I will contact people who voted for Turkey (if there was any) in order to correct their votes order.
  23. Unfortunately we have to disqualify Turkey from the contest. In addition to not posting the votes on time, the user didn't answer any of the messages here and elsewhere about the contest, so it's unlikely they will send the votes if we extend the deadline. Moldova has a problem in the voting but it's accepted for now and will be a part of the draw, but will need to fix the issues soon. With Turkey out of the competition, we have 41 nations competing. In the end, only Turkey and 3 users from multi-member juries didn't vote.
