SLOVAK ROAD TO TOKYO 2020 - SLOVENSKÁ CESTA DO TOKIA 2020 28th Qualified Athlete Andrej CSEMEZ - BOXING (M -75kg MIDDLEWEIGHT) Slovenský box na olympiáde po 25 rokoch Andrej Csemez si vybojoval miestenku do Tokia v strednej váhe Slovenský boxer Andrej Csemez sa kvalifikoval na olympijské hry v Tokiu. V nedeľu popoludní v priamom súboji o účasť na vrcholnom podujatí zdolal v kategórii do 75 kg Lancelota Protona de la Chapella z Belgicka 5:0 na body. Csemez si na olympijskej kvalifikácii v Paríži vybojoval účasť v semifinále, čo stačilo aj na zisk olympijskej miestenky. V strednej váhe do 75 kg potvrdil svoje ambície i výkonnostný progres za posledné roky. Dvadsaťtriročný pästiar by mal v semifinále nastúpiť proti Rusovi Glebovi Bakšimu. Jeho účasť v boji o finále je otázna pre zranenie nosa, ktoré utrpel v predošlých dueloch. Ani nenastúpenie na semifinálový duel ho však nepripraví o miestenku do Tokia. Zverenec Tomiho Kida Kovácsa vo štvrťfinále proti De la Chapellovi bol od úvodu aktívnejší a u bodových arbitrov vyhrával. V prvom i druhom kole mu všetci piati prisúdili víťazstvo 10:9 a vyhral u nich aj tretie kolo, po ktorom sa radoval z naplnenia svojho sna. Csemez začal svoju cestu za miestenkou do Tokia pred rokom, keď sa kvalifikačný turnaj začal v Londýne. Vtedy po voľnom žrebe v prvom kole zdolal v druhom Poliaka Ryszarda Lewického na body 5:0. Po prerušení kvalifikácie z protipandemických dôvodov na ďalší súboj musel čakať viac ako štrnásť mesiacov. Turnaj presunuli do Paríža, kde si v osemfinále poradil so Španielom Miguelom Cuadradom Entrenom 5:0 na body. Pre Csemeza bude účasť v Tokiu ďalším významným úspechom v jeho kariére. Pred dvoma rokmi bol v Minsku na majstrovstvách Európskej únie bronzový, rok predtým triumfoval na otvorených majstrovstvách Európskej únie vo Valladolide.

Exactly 25 years ago in Atlanta 1996 competed in Boxing the last and only time since the independence of the country at the Olympics. Now 25 years later our boxer will enter the Olympics ring. 2nd Combat sport after FS Wrestling (Makoev).
