  1. As this is a special case, the FIL/IWGA came to a special agreement. The Gods of the Haudenosanee (Iroquois) people gifted the sport of Lacrosse to them. In turn, the Haudenosanee gifted the game to the rest of the world. The Haudenosanee are the spiritual keepers of the sport, much the same way as Scotland is with Curling, Japan with Judo, and Korea with Taekwondo. Recapping the posts from above: The Haudenosanee were originally not invited to the World Games, since they do not have an NOC. Their players then created a petition asking the other nations to boycott the Games, which received wide support in the Lacrosse community. The IWGA/FIL then decided that the Haudenosanee could compete if they had met the qualification requirements (which they easily had), as this was a special case. Ireland the decided (voluntarily) to reject their place at the Games, so the Haudenosanee could compete.
  2. Ireland has voluntarily rejected it’s quota place in men’s lacrosse, so that the Haudenosanee Nation may compete. Article: https://worldlacrosse.sport/article/ireland-lacrosse-voluntarily-withdraws-from-twg-2022/ Fantastic act of sportsmanship. You should be proud of your boys @OlympicIRL. I sincerely hope that FIL/IWGA/BIR2022 come up with a way to let both teams compete.
  3. Also, I saw what happened to Sagan when watching the extended highlights provided by NBC, and it’s not really his fault he lost the stage today. There was a lead out rider that pull to the side well, and then he and a couple other guys got caught out by a dip in the road (which I think knocked his chain off).
  4. To be fair, I find all the jersey competitions exciting/worthwhile in their own right. The only thing I can’t stand are these ridiculous “Bonus” things.
  5. It seems pretty fair. If sprinters can’t be bothered to drag their asses over hills at more than a semi-pedestrian place, then that’s on them.
  6. Absolutely. I disagree a little on who it’s “meant for” or meant to incentivize, but it is absolutely the road twin of the track cycling points race. I actually going to post about how Sagan reminds me of Cameron Meyer a little bit.
  7. I don’t see anything wrong with the green jersey classification by the way. I get that it’s supposed to be a reward for the sprinters, but if people can win it based on strategy, then that’s good riding.
  8. There was a period, around when Sagan had his three-peat at the Worlds, where he actually was a very solid sprinter and a solid tactician. In his early career he had the speed, but the lacked the tactics to win more sprints. Now, it seems like both tactics and speed are starting to leave him, or at least he’s having a poor year in the saddle. Like some others said, it’s a long tour and he may improve, but I have yet to be impressed by his performance. I’d say he has only his team to thank for that green jersey right now.
  9. That might be the most prudent solution. Season could be 8 world cups, 2 at each German track, and then the world championships in Innsbruck, or maybe even St. Mortiz (I knew the FIL doesn’t race there, which is why it would be cool). You could even do the 8 World cups in Germany, and then fly over to Pyeongchang for the World Championships, and then hit China for the test event (assuming the track is ready by February/March).
  10. I’ll just be thrilled if there’s 20 or more races this season.
  11. Sagan has been really disappointing this year. He’s clearly not in good form. I hope he’s able to comeback at some point. Easily one of the most entertaining cyclists of this century.
  12. Nice stage from Lutsenko. That win wasn’t as exciting as his victory at the 2018 Asian Games, but it was still a fantastic ride nonetheless. Powless managed to give me more hope about the future of American cycling. Actually, I’m very pleased with our “young” cyclists right now. Kuss and Powless have shown a fair amount of ability and strength lately. I’m excited to see how they’ll perform for the rest of the tour. I once thought Craddock would be the future of American cycling, and possibly a GC contender, but he never really planned out. However, between these three, I have some high hopes for American cycling in the coming years. They probably aren’t guys that will win tour after tour, but they are riders that could be competitive at events like the World Championships and Olympic Games, and honestly I’ll take that.
  13. If I’m not mistaken, our very own @Vojthas will be acting as the commentator for the Polish National Championships due to get underway in a few minutes.
  14. The Executive Board of the International Luge Federation, with the support of the Canadian Luge Association, has decided to cancel the 2021 World Championships scheduled for the Whistler Sliding Centre February 5-7. The FIL Executive Board will decide on an alternative venue in the coming weeks.
  15. This has really become one of my favorite songs lately.
  16. This happened back in March I guess, but it’s finally getting publicized today. I can’t even! How, the fuck, are we allowing police officers to get away with this kind of conduct.
  17. Great, she’s making it worse. Her response should be “I made a big fricken mistake. It was hypocritical of me. I apologize.” Instead, it’s just a bunch of excuses. Becuase what we need right now is the main opposition party shooting itself in the foot months before the election
  18. I know, but it’s not like that many tennis players get an Olympic gold medal in their career. Her medal sure meant a lot for Puerto Rico too.
  19. Now, both both genders can get paid whatever meager salary the Brazilian FA probably pays players
  20. Hell of thing to be remembered for though.
  21. Well, neither do the ones along the route of the Tour De France from what I’ve seen, so it’s par for the course.
  22. Trump is failed businessmen who only looks after his own interest. He runs this country, like he ran his businesses, for his own profit. Any policy he makes is to advance his name or gain profit, not to improve or strengthen the country in any way. Trump loves white collar criminals and strongmen. Just look at how many he’s hung out with. Of course he loves Netanyahu! Not only is Netanyahu a criminal, but he’s also a strongman. Plus, Netanyahu acts like he’s protecting Western interests against Muslims, when all he’s doing is stoking further conflict with them for personal gain, or to satisfy a personal vendetta. Trump has never been a leader, politician, or businessmen. He’s failed miserably at all three.
