  1. Little peak at the vote counting process in Philadelphia.
  2. I believe Georgia election officials will have have a press conference soon to discuss what’s going on there. No clue what’s going on in North Carolina. Yes, Pennsylvania had a press conference a while ago, and they said they are still at work counting mail-in ballots. Yes, in Pennsylvania the law is they can’t start counting mail-in ballots until Election Day.
  3. Yes, that is part of, if not all, of the reasoning behind that.
  4. Nevada won’t be releasing any more results until tomorrow by the way.
  5. Helena is the capital of the state, but it’s not a big city (I wouldn’t even use the word “city” to describe it). The more notable towns in Montana are Missoula, Billings, and Bozeman, the later of which has floated the idea of a Winter Olympics bid on a few occasions.
  6. The US officially withdraws from the Paris Climate Accords today.
  7. Biden now has the lead in Michigan. I just woke up after a couple hours of sleep, so I have no clue what his odds of holding it are.
  8. That part of the country is wack. Vermont appears to have voted for Biden by a majority of around 35%. However, they’ve elected a Republican governor with a majority of around 40%. Also, while I’m looking at Vermont, it appears they had 21 candidates for President on the ballot...
  9. From the reporting I’ve heard, some of the county election commissions in the state decided to stop work for tonight, in order to allow their workers to sleep. It’s also nearly 3AM on the East Coast, I don’t think anyone’s doing anything fast at that time...
  10. Trump claims to have won Georgia, North Carolina. Complains that some outlets have already called Arizona for Biden. Trump claims he’ll expand his lead in Pennsylvania. Trump claims the election is a fraud and embarrassment. Trump gets very close to declaring he’s won the election. Trump will ask the Supreme Court to force states to stop counting ballots.
  11. I guess Trump is going to give remarks soon. Rumor has it he will declare victory.
  12. Biden is making a speech right now.
  13. 388 voters in Nevada have cast a ballot in the presidential race for “none of these candidates”
  14. California with an auto-call on every network the minute polls close
  15. It’s really starting to look like Trump’s going to win again...
  16. Did a quick scan of results on some of the more interesting state referendums so far: New Jersey is on it’s way to legalizing weed at the moment. Only about 50% of the vote is in though, so that could change. Massachusetts looks like it will reject a change to ranked-choice voting. This vote is still semi-close, so it could change. Washington D.C. is on it’s way to decriminalize shrooms. There’s still a good amount of votes to be counted though. Rhode Island looks poised to keep its full name. This results is semi-close, and this still a fair amount of votes left.
  17. Something that may become a more pressing issue if this election gets closer... The electoral college is made up of actual people. They meet at a real, physical location, and cast actual ballots. Like voting laws, every state determines how electors are chosen, and if they are bound to vote for a candidate or not. There’s multiple methods, but the real fact to underline here is that not every state mandates that their electors must according to the popular vote. So realistically a candidate could “win” 272 to 266, but then lose the electoral college if a few electors choose not to vote according to the popular vote in their state (but perhaps according to their own political beliefs, or national popular vote). I don’t see this being a realistic issue, but it always fun to theorize.
  18. Vermont votes for Biden, elects a Republican governor
  19. Ah, no. They will be attempting to get ride of the “Providence Plantations” part of the name. They did have a referendum on this in 2010 I believe, and vast majority of Rhode Islanders voted to keep the name then.
  20. Poll inaccuracies boils down to demographics more than bias (though there could very well be some). It has to do with who is chooses to take part in the poll, and how they are contacted. There can also be situations where only the most motivated and involved voters bother to respond to polls.
  21. Another vote monitor there is the referendum on wether or not to change the name of the state. The full name of the state is currently “Rhode Island and Providence Plantations”
