rafalgorka reacted to Sindo in World Championships Medal Counts in the Road to Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022
Medals obtained by Nations only in Olympic Events, considering only the Latest World Championships for each Sport.
When a new World Championships is held, previous World Championships' medals will be kept in this Medal Count and summed together, until the Olympic Cycle finish.
Medals obtained by Nations without a recognized Olympic Committee (Scotland, Faroe Islands, etc.) will be assigned to the Nation for which they will compete for at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games (if Scotland wins a medal in Men's Curling WCF World Championship, then that medal will be assigned to Great Britain etc.)
Some World Championships allow Athletes from different Nations to compete as a Pair or Doubles Team. This is not possible at the Olympic Games, so in case a mixed team win a World Championships medal, half medal will be awarded to each Nation.
Some sports do not have a proper World Championship and some events have a World Championship format which is different to the Olympic format. In order to consider every single Olympic event in the Medal Count, the World Championships medals for these events will be awarded according to different formats, listed in detail year by year.
Click on a Nation to open that Nation's Medals.

Doha, Qatar will host the Asian Qualification event right before the World Singles Qualifiers in March.
I assume some other continents will do the same and will have their qualifiers in Doha.

FINA Rankings are usually garbage, they miss tons of results. Hayang swam 4:10 during the qualification period. I think Swimswam has better rankings.

From my point of view, it's a pity you don't study law anymore ;-))))
But good luck with political science. And maybe maybe you come back to law later.
I work with Dannish lawyers sometimes and I really admire their work and achievements.
PS.
Could you please try to do the similar contest for winter sports world champs in 2021 in olympic events? I know freestyle skiing is cancelled. But nordic and alpine will be soon, skating as well, bobs and luge, skeleton, curling, hockey, snowb...

I don't mind you asking . I study political science. I'm about to complete the first semester on my Master's.
I have studied Law for two semesters. After those two semesters I found out it wasn't for me, so I switched to political science.

rafalgorka reacted to Wumo in [PREDICTION CONTESTS] Discussion Thread
@rafalgorka
I'm going to answer some of the questions you had here in the discussion thread.
You have done your predictions correctly. The only thing you need is to also to delete the space in [ /hide] if you want your post hidden.
When it comes to draws you just put a 0 in one of the cells. The goal difference will then be 0 and it will be understood as a draw.

I don't think USA will be able to assemble that team for Tokyo
Also, for our team there are missing some players that would 100% be in the list (it doesn't matter anyway, just pointing it out).

And it's time for women's final tournament. They bilieve that will be on the podium! What do you think? What is your top 3?

rafalgorka reacted to phelps in Tokyo 2020 Day after Day as it could have happened
USA just unbeatable, then AUS and ESP clear favourite for the remaining 2 medals (which one depending on the quarterfinals' draw, who's lucky to escape the USA in the semifinal match would eventually get silver)...
FRA and maybe BEL outsiders, but with very remote chances to upset the top 3...
all the rest of the field, I fear they would be satisfied with simple participation...

The same as for swimming:
Men:
10000 m: No medal for Kiplimo/Kipruto?
High jump: Would be very surprised to see Starc winning a medal. I think Russia will win at least one medal.
Long jump: I don’t see Hashioka winning a medal. What about Henderson/Manyonga/Tentoglou? Did they retire/get caught?
200 m: Would be very surprised to see Odudoru winning a medal. Maybe De Grasse for bronze. Sani Brown winning a medal would be nice.
Triple jump: No medal for Claye?
Shot put: No medal for Kovacs?
400 m: I think Norman will medal.
5000 m: No medal for Kiplimo?
4 x 100 m: I don’t think that Jamaica will medal, I would go with Japan.
Women:
Discus: I would pick Caballero over Allman.
5000 m: No medal for the world record holder?
200 m: I think Miller-Uibo wins a medal if she competes.
3000 m SC: I don’t see Kiyeng winning a medal. Even Krause seems like a more likely option.
400 m: No medal for Naser?
1500 m: Ennaoui ...? I think that there are at least 10 girls who are more likely to medal than her.
10000 m: A medal for Japan would be one of the biggest surprises in Olympic history. Even if Kenya and Ethiopia would be banned, she wouldn’t be a favorite for a medal.
-
rafalgorka reacted to OlympicsFan in Tokyo 2020 Day after Day as it could have happened
I will maybe post my full „analysis“ later, but here are my biggest „problems“ with your predictions:
Men:
400 IM: I don’t see Papastamos winning a medal. If you want to pick a young guy, you should rather go for Borodin.
400 free: Both Horton and Yang not winning a medal seems pretty unlikely.
4 x 100 free: I don’t see Australia winning a medal. I would pick Russia for silver and Brazil for bronze.
4 x 200 free: I think that GB will medal (instead of Russia)
100 breast: A medal for Prigoda seems extremely unlikely. I think Chupkov will win gold and then the other medals will be between the two Japanese guys, the two Australian guys and maybe Kamminga.
100 free: Gold for Scott seems very unlikely. I think it will be Dressel - Chalmers - Minakov/Morozov/Grinev/Scott/2nd American guy.
200 IM: Silver for Seliskar seems very unlikely, I doubt that he will even qualify. I think Scott/Larkin/Andrew/Hagino/Desplanches and maybe a couple other guys are all more likely to medal than Seliskar.
Women:
400 IM: I think Margalis will medal.
200 IM: I don’t see McKeown winning a medal or even competing, but who knows ...
My prediction would be Hosszu + Ye + Margalis/Japanese girl.
50 free: Wasick winning a medal would be a big surprise for me. I think Blume, Campbell and the Chinese girl are all more likely to medal (apart from Sjöstrom and Manuel).
