  1. I had missed it, but Shiffrin will be out for an unkown time. Earlier this week her dad was fixing something on the roof back home in Vail, when he fell down, was brought to the hospital and died due to the brain injury he suffered
  2. Well yeah, if they're going to cancel it anyway, why spend the money?
  3. If this is enough reason to become your idol, I'm a little worried about you
  4. Oh well, sports people wearing sports underwear. Seems just as weird as cyclists wearing cycling clothes and marathon runners wearing marathon shirts
  5. Sindre Henriksen did a better job a few years ago though: he fell, ripped his suit and had to compete the last part of the race clearly showing his boxers/underpants....not long after, he started getting some extra money by starting to sell underwear
  6. Yes, because sexy lingerie is the main priority when competing (not that it matters much, but I do believe I saw something that wasn't exactly a big piece of cloth )
  7. Roxanne Dufter with a British bobsleigh moment: she fell and pretty much mooned the camera with a split-open suit.
  8. No fantastic times so far, Calgary is mostly lost glory in terms of the quality of the track there. Too bad, it has such a rich history.
  9. I wonder how often two fiancees have raced each other in the World Cup before
  10. Plus he took credit for a whole lot of good things that were actually already done before him One of his biggest qualities is taking credit either for things someone else actually implemented (especially Obama) or for things that he says but simply are not true Not like, someone disagrees with it, but things that are actually not true (think "blue and red are the same colour!"...no, they are not)
  11. World Cup in Calgary today and tomorrow (not that anyone really seems to care about the whole notion of a World Cup classification in speed skating). Standings and stuff isn't interesting, no idea who is leading where because it's not like alpine skiing where it matters. However, it is in Calgary and so it is definitely interesting to follow. Daichi Yamanaka already threw down a 34.24 in the 500m B division, that's promising
  12. This is an excellent bit of sarcasm around the epic career of one of the worst 'professional' drivers of the past two or three decades or so Welcome to the career of India's Mahaveer Raghunathan:
  13. Cancelling/changing the one in Singapore would be kind of weird and pure 'panic football' as it'd be called in Dutch
  14. Yes, and the Lady knows it better than anyone.
  15. I'm definitely afraid of that, although I'm going to raise a glass of wine (or two, or three) if she manages to snatch away a gold from Princess (or better, Queen, as she probably demands) Dorothea.
  16. Possibly because she's been trying to fight and fight for some equality for her (instead of every single thing always going to Wierer) for a long while, and since nothing ever worked and she kept being pushed down, she decided to go for desperate measures in desperate times? No idea, but it would be far from surprising if she used this moment because any other moment would have much less of a potential effect.
  17. It says something that Koukalova made Wierer look like someone who never heard of makeup
  18. Ah, Koukalova. The queen of holding up podium ceremonies because her makeup wasn't 'right' yet
  19. Bees are a major part of Kenyan culture? Interesting.
  20. The Kenyans not wearing green/red/black in some form, the Croatians not wearing some sort of checkers, the Dutch not wearing orange in some form, no green/yellow/blue (or at least two of them) for Brazil, no red for Norway...now that'd be boring. Consistency is key, at least the Kenyans understood that - even with a completely different design.
  21. If true, which would be completely unsurprising, this would be such an incredibly shitty move from the coaches. It's like giving a big, fat middle finger straight in Vittozzi's face. But then again: Wierer gets them the sweet marketing money and everyone will just drool on her social media photos and think Wierer is all fantastic, not a care in the world for the coaches.
  22. Oh, there's Premier League already?
  23. Call me when skateboarders start wearing sports clothes
  24. Oh trust me, I know a thing or two about rather mediocre team atmosphere These top athletes...all we see is what they say publicly and what they do publicly. Who says she hasn't been fighting for a year, for two years, for three years even...just to get some simply equality within her team compared to everyone's oh so lovely Wierer, the perfect marketing girl for Italian biathlon? There is so much more going on than what we see publicly, it might have been bad timing by her (or on purpose maybe, if she has been trying for a long time), but I'm glad for her that apparently something that really needed to get out, got out. I'm fairly sure Wierer will take all the glory again and not Vittozzi, but I'm very much hoping Vittozzi will upset her. I've never really been specifically a fan or not, but now I'm full-on #TeamVittozzi
