  1. Stage two is underway, the first protests are already announced and the first truck blocking the road has been sighted. Apparently that has already been kicked out of the way, and then there's going to be Extinction Rebellion somewhere - presumably at the 'Alto de Amerongse', which is the half Spanish name for the Amerongse Berg (mountain).
  2. I kind of thought of also going to watch today's stage, since it finishes in Utrecht again (one hour by train) and it passes through Amersfoort (same train, but 45 minutes or so) which is where I work - or at least on the rare days I don't work at home. I definitely would have if it was a time trial or something, but the finish will be impossible to really see and in Amersfoort you'd lose half the day for literally 20 seconds of 'whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh' as the peloton passes by and that's it
  3. Oh this is looking fantastic with the waves and all, it's kind of like one of them big wave pools Let's go!
  4. Maybe they won't be allowed, just like apparently nobody is allowed to do both the 5k and 25k today even if they wanted (like Van Rouwendaal).
  5. Fantastic men's K4 1000m final at the European sprint canoeing championships, really worth a watch if you haven't seen it
  6. Oh man, how often I've dreamed of being in Iceland these past weeks
  7. Not really, before we arrived I named five teams as top-5 with Jumbo as winner, UAE is the only top-5 team I didn't mention It was cool to be standing right behind the finish and on the way to the hotseats, so many riders came close by. The party was real when Van Baarle and especially Gesink passed, I can hardly think of a rider who is both more popular, more down to earth and more of a fighter than Gesink has always been
  8. That was one amazing race and experience to be at Gesink of all people having the leader's jersey was basically my biggest wish for the day
  9. Roughly 2,5 hours until Burgos kicks off the team time trial that is stage 1 in Utrecht, time to get to the train station
  10. Well, some good news at least And the 25k starting at 14.00 seems fun, after-dinner open water swimming
  11. Yeah, the Finn kind of punched his arm away (unintentionally, it seemed, but still)
  12. Ah, now they finally showed the relevant replay and yeah, Turkey was definitely impeded in their original run. Good for them they could go again.
  13. I mean again, because they (Turkey) ran in heat 2, and now they had that lone run in 'heat 3'.
  14. Why is Turkey allowed to run the 4x100m again? I'm catching up on the morning and just got to their heat, but even with 10 replays I can't see them being impeded anywhere
  15. Massive news, Mathias Flückiger of Switzerland - silver medal winner at the Tokyo Olympics and last season's World Cup winner - has tested positive for zeranol and is provisionally suspended https://www.srf.ch/sport/mehr-sport/european-championships/positive-doping-probe-mathias-flueckiger-provisorisch-suspendiert Still on the start list for today's European championships, but yeah...that ain't happening I assume.
  16. According to the forecast graphic European Athletics uses in the broadcast, nobody will finish 2nd I think they kind of forgot to move everyone up a spot.
  17. Unbelievably unlucky for Vetter to get injured right now...I assume that affected at least her long jump, and after Thiam basically blew both the long jump and the javelin and thew away literally hundreds of points, she would really have gotten in reach for Vetter
  18. European Athletics/Munich 2022 commentators did, if they hadn't I wouldn't have noticed neither
  19. I'm a little behind in terms of watching (an hour or so), but wow, Ekaterina Poistogova is back Or well, that's what I remember her as from the years where she was constantly named in the beginning's of the unravelling of Russia's state-sponsored program that eventually lead to Russian athletes being kicked out of sports thanks to their own government. Apparently she married Ramil Guliyev and competes for Turkey now.
  20. Meanwhile Vetter really let a chance go to make a dent in Thiam's large virtual lead after Thiam's long jump...
  21. Yeah, this thread, but I think I missed that because a lot of the sessions I had to watch with a delay, so then I didn't really look here
  22. Ah, apparently there was a technical issue during Krizsan's jump, after which Dokter was cleared to jump. They were however still fixing the issue, leading to there not being a photo of Dokter's take-off, so they couldn't allow her result. It seems they were both allowed another attempt, as they should, but during Krizsan's new attempt another technical issue appeared (but this time the photo showed she was over the line anyway). Dokter wasn't shown anymore, uncertain whether or not she jumped again. That's a real shame though, that seemingly legal jump - just with an unfortunate organizational error - seemed to be at least half a meter better than what she now has as result, that's a ton of points
  23. Or any party at all, for that matter. I can't even imagine trains being painted in the colours of any party here (left, right, center, whatever)
  24. What was this whole thing with Dokter, Krizsan and an official about after the long jump? It would have been possible to hear them all speak in English and then hear Dokter speak with Vetter in Dutch if it weren't for the English commentator constantly talking through it I know Dokter jumped well over 6 meters, and then everything got rather vague it seemed.
