  1. Meanwhile our first pole vault hope in forever, Menno Vloon, has had a bad fall and was wheeled off in a wheelchair
  2. Cray started 10 minutes too early
  3. Warholm is already getting these "I am fantastic" kind of things, not the best development
  4. How come? It's the most random event of all, don't count anyone out ever
  5. No, if you have both the world champ and DL champ, you have to choose. So 4 is the maximum to actually compete.
  6. In the curve, that's a DQ.
  7. 1st major champs nerves, now awake, etc etc
  8. Not if you have the reigning world champion or DL champion.
  9. McMaster stepped on the line? And almost gave away 3rd place..?
  10. Go go McMaster
  11. Let's say it's 'first major champs nerves' and he's now awake
  12. And O for Duplantis in his last attempt.
  13. XX at 5.30 already for Duplantis.
  14. And the guy from Lesotho who attacked very impressive in the end before fading away last time around
  15. Kemboi shouldn't have problems based on time, but Birech might be stressing a little..
  16. Well Birech is a time racer, not a position racer, that seems clear now
  17. Quick, hide the children dressed up as mascots, Mehikissi-Bennabad is on the track.
  18. Which is why I said most people will see Bolt like that, but there's definitely people who follow athletics a bit more closely and so know that Jamaican doping tests haven't always been exactly fantastic The fact Gatlin should not have been allowed to run after his second ban is a whole different discussion (and I think most people agree about it, including some of Gatlin's friends in the sport).
  19. Me too In Dutch we have a saying, 'mondjes snoeren', which is like 'shutting some little mouths'. Quite often this is said when for example everyone is saying athlete A is done and should retire, but then athlete A comes and wins, something like that. Gatlin had a rather perfect example of that yesterday
  20. Plus the whole thing where everybody was super hyped for Bolt's final individual race and then everyone was exploding out of their pants of angriness was just freakishly hilarious.
  21. That's not entirely true. Just like most people will remember Bolt as a great athlete, but quite a lot of people will remember him (and his countrymen) as 'the athletes coming from that country where doping controls were extremely amateuristic according to the stories'. So too will most people remember Gatlin as a doper, but quite a lot of people will also remember him as someone with insane will power in his final chance to beat Bolt. Like I said, I'm not a fan of him, but those last 20-30 meters of Gatlin last night...damn, I have rarely seen such a show of "I'd rather die than lose this race" and as a sports fan, I can't do anything but respect that.
  22. Apparently one learns every day...because I was searching for his injury news, I discovered he was one of the many Olympic champions of whom I had already forgotten they won Olympic gold (like Sara Kolak) This all sucks for Canada.
  23. Interesting words from Gregory Sedoc on Dutch TV (who trained in the group with Gatlin for a couple of years), mostly about how he thinks Gatlin should never be allowed to race again after his 2nd offence, but also about how Gatlin is one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Which is completely different than what you'd expect from a doper (at least I wouldn't expect a doper to be friendly, for some reason).
  24. The punishment for a 2nd offense should always be a life ban, but he did finish his sentence. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Gatlin and never will be, but I find it sadistically funny that he pissed all over the #BoltDown hype
  25. Someone shut up some mouths today
