  2. The Olympics are not doing too bad. Some numbers in France. 95% of french people have watched the Olympics (at least one minute) On average, every french person have watched 24 hours of it (that's the craziest statistic) 24.4 millions have watched the Opening Ceremony (historic record for french television) 15 millions watched the 4th Gold of Léon Marchand
  3. FIH put some standards for France at Paris. Top 20 IIRC. Also only one 3x3 basketball team was automatically qualified and for some reasons we didn't had any home quotas in Wrestling.
  4. Squash is weird. If IOC had really wanted, Paris would have make more sense. But really, the whole thing is weird since Paris. Breaking which sounded like TB pet project dropped after Paris ? Lacrosse AND Cricket for an US host ? Squash ? ... It's impossible to understand these decision tbf.
  5. They shouldn’t obviously. But, IOC shoud never agree to add a sport played in three countries and half to begin with. So...
  6. Depends of the sport really. Baseball and Cricket have very strong profesionnal structures to go back to in case of being included on the 'cycle' or not. A sport like Field Hockey doesn't, it can't be put on a on/off situation every 4 yeats (just like Karate shouldn't either)
  7. *The LA28 Committee. Anyway, it's yet to see if the additional sports program will survive post-2028. The main point has been achieved IMO (adding new - urban, etc. - sports to the core program without sacrificing any existing sports.
  8. (writen before the Sinner case) https://honestsport.substack.com/p/italys-clostebol-doping-crisis-across?sort=top
  9. Eden Park has always been (also) a cricket ground. They kept cricket in mind when they refurbished it for the 2011 RWC. It's hardly comparable with regular rectangle stadiums around the world. And there are not many cities who would have a somewhat decent athletic stadium on top of their olympic stadium. There are no way around it. Having cricket in the olympic program would be a major issue for many of the possible future hosts.
  10. You seem to care that some people actually care...
  11. Wouah Trinidad, St-Kitts AND St-Lucia ? Amazing !
  12. So on, indeed. Basically, everything except of team sports, road cycling, tennis, golf and once every two years athletics and swimming is dead as far as general audience is concerned. That's why, I think it's very weird to argue about the comparative mass appeal of different olympic sports. It really doesn't matter.
  13. France was represented at the last WC (and even win some matches). AFAIK, we have one active club in the whole country. It's crazy how every minimum global standard for olympic inclusion have been throw out of the window under Bach regime and its additional sports program...
  14. The “fundamental principle” is not only a principle on paper it's what make the winter games fundamentally distinctive and what it makes that the event works. If you cut it, you'll end up with a selection of random sports that are simply not good enough for the summer olympics. In other words, it's called the World Games. Everyone is included, but no one care.
  15. My fear is that every sports/disciplines not on the program will see it as a way in, and we end up with the World Games + Ski&Ice
  16. Apparently, World Athletics is pushing (again) for Cross Country to be included at the Winter Olympics (in french) https://stadion-actu.fr/le-cross-country-aux-jeux-olympiques-dhiver-en-2030/
  17. Hardly, it was out before the Tokyo Games happened...
  18. Doest it matter ? Should it ? I mean, the vast majority of olympic events are shit TV products anyway that no one watch outside of the Olympics.
  19. If anything, that's more the other way around
  20. Doesn't make it less unknown by the general public. I'g guess that 99.9999% of the french population wouldn't know that we had been world champion in flag football.
  21. Actually, the event exists and made its debut during the last PanAm Games. Can't find much of comments on how it went.
  22. First ever win in our domestic Tour
  23. Our first World Championsip post Paris then. Time to go back to work and study what the rules of this sport are
  24. I think that exactly what Bach had in minds when he came up with idea of additional sports for Tokyo . At least, Rogge managed to keep in check the sports program.
