  1. It still makes more sense than a freaking football world cup tbh. On a side note, it would be the first time ever that 3 consecutive SOGs are held outside of Europe.
  2. The roof over Suzanne Lenglen's court has been inaugurated today during the first day of Roland Garros. The venue will host the boxing tournament.
  7. No suspension for Ysaora Thibus... https://www.lequipe.fr/Escrime/Actualites/Pas-de-suspension-pour-ysaora-thibus-qui-revient-en-lice-pour-les-jeux-olympiques/1469101
  8. How will the teams be seeded in Paris? Simply the world ranking?
  9. Good olympic vibes finally ! Main TV channels are broadcasting live since this morning waiting for the arrival in Marseille in front of a huge audience (150,000 people are expected) and under a great weather. Hopefully, this means a new period of excitement and national concord (wich was laking so far tbh)
  10. People tends to think as basketball as the second major team sport in Europe (and there are many arguments for that), but when it comes to people actally attending games, ice hockey is likely ahead (liga acb is around 6,000 spectators per match, other leagues like Germany, Italy or France around 4,000 or a bit less)
  11. Apparently, there were two cases where the athletes was able to "prove" just that. Basically, you have to show evidence that the amount of the prohibitive substance from your partner is much higher than your own. (in french) https://www.ouest-france.fr/sport/escrime/dopage-la-contamination-a-lostarine-dysaora-thibus-par-voie-sexuelle-est-possible-a01430e8-d256-11ee-b1bc-6aaac57ff91a
  12. I'm surprised the chinese KHL team is still around. I would have thought it folded years ago
  13. I see some basque imperalism around here https://www.sudouest.fr/sport/surf/surf-le-landais-joan-duru-se-qualifie-pour-les-jo-de-paris-2024-18801091.php
  14. Sorry, I haven't followed the topic, how the team ranking is calculated ?
  15. On top of the Olympic Village, this is where we stand regarding the new venues built for the Olympics. Stade Nautique Olympique (2019, Rowing & Canoeing) Grand Palais Ephémère (2021, Judo & Wrestling) Stade Yves du Manoir (2023, Field Hockey) Adidas Arena (2024, Badminton & Rhythmic Gymnastics) Centre Aquatique Olympique (TBD, Water Polo & Artistic Swimming) Site d'Escalade du Bourget (TBD, Sport Climbing) The Olympic venues building budget has been set to 1.4€ billion. From the original planing, two venues have not been built : the shooting stand which was moved to Châteauroux where the already built National Shooting Center was expanded and the main Aquatic venue which was moved to the Paris la Defense Arena.
  16. Olympic village to be inaugurated today https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20240229-paris-olympic-village-ready-on-time-as-confidence-grows And obviously, while looking for an english source on it
  17. Do we know what rankings will be used to make the draws of the team events in Paris ?
  18. French team (15 athletes and no relay) https://www.athle.fr/asp.net/main.html/html.aspx?htmlid=6756
  19. First time since 1997 for the men and I assume first time ever for the women.
  20. First, heptathletes and decathletes will love it ! Then, it's actually a very surprising move. Most federations these days are trying to add fake drama and uncertainty for the 5 seconds goldfish generation. Here, we would remove some drama and make the contest much more straightforward giving the better athletes - well, the ones who actually can jump longer regardless of a fault or not - a significant edge.
  21. What this retard is going to answer when a Province - that-I-should-not-name - is going to ask for its own team at the olympics ?
  22. The "hexagon" is a relative early expression, commonly used only since the 70's. It has this nice technocratic, disembodied, touch... not very 1900 I'd say. BTW, the first Tour de France looked like this. so, if they were to create an hexagonal shape, we can safely state that the creators of the Tour were dead drunk when they did it. PS : I believe the book you're referencing is that one , which indeed might have influenced the birth of the Tour de France, but AFAIK has nothing to do with this hexagon thing.
  23. The Adidas Arena was opened yesterday (8,000 seats), it will host badminton and rhythmic gymnastics during the Olympics. Il will also become the home of the Paris Basketball team.
  24. If anyone is looking for a Liévin streaming link. Here you go, VPN and all that: https://www.lequipe.fr/tv/
