e via che è andata un'altra settimana ricca di eventi importanti. in primis, si è conclusa la caccia alle carte olimpiche ai mondiali di tiro a segno...e nulla è cambiato in questi 7 giorni, la medaglia (e carta olimpica) guadagnata in apertura di evento da Danilo Dennis Sollazzo nella Carabina ad Aria Compressa maschile rimane l'unico sprazzo d'azzurro in tutta la manifestazione. gli altri tiratori di casa nostra, infatti, hanno fatto letteralmente schifo. E fa male dover constatare ciò specie per Sofia Ceccarello, che da quando si è trasferita negli USA ha completamente perso la bussola. passando ad altro, impalpabile la presenza italiana pure ai mondiali di Breakdance (non che la cosa mi rattristi in questo caso, anzi ). soddisfazioni vere invece sono arrivate dalla vela, dove dopo 14 anni di medaglie "minori", Marta Maggetti ha finalmente riportato in Italia il titolo del Windsurf Olimpico (ora, il nuovissimo iOFOiL). L'ultima gioia "piena" ce la portò, indovina un po'?, Alessandra Sensini. Grande successo anche di Irma Testa, che si è tenuta stretta per la terza volta il titolo europeo di Boxe olimpica, categoria -57kg. Bene anche l'argento di Roberta Bonatti nei -48kg e benino anche le 3 medaglie di Bronzo. ma nel complesso la manifestazione è stata ancora una volta una farsa, con giudizi fuori dal mondo. questo sport non cambierà mai...è ora di farla finita. nel Judo, buoni risultati Italiani al Grand Slam di Abu Dhabi, favoriti anche da tante assenze di peso dopo così poco dalla conclusione dei mondiali. in ogni caso, sono tanti punti pesanti, specie per Elios Manzi (uomini -66kg) che ha vinto il torneo con grande autorità (nella stessa classe, ottimo bronzo anche per l'alternativa, Matteo Piras), per il duo dei -48kg donne, Francesca Milani (argento) e Assunta Scutto (5. posto un po' deludente per la verità, specie per aver perso la semifinale contro la compagna di squadra), Giovanni Esposito (ottimo argento, ma lui rimane la riserva di Manuel Lombardo in prospettiva Parigi 2024, anche dopo il serio infortunio del torinese) e Martina Esposito (ottimo bronzo, con il rimpianto della sconfitta in semifinale contro la stessa avversaria battuta neanche 2 settimane fa al mondiale). Un po' deludente (per le mie alte aspettative) Asya Tavano nei +78kg donne, solo 5a in una gara che aveva un tabellone "praticabile" almeno fino all'atto decisivo. Disastro ancora una volta, invece, per Antonio Esposito nei -81kg...ora che non ha più ostacoli per il posto olimpico, ha perso del tutto "la vena". Urge un'alternativa importante qui (o un recupero miracoloso del buon Antonio). nel Taekwondo è andato in scena il Grand Prix di Manchester, che ha portato in dote all'Italia il ritorno in gara di Vito Dell'Aquila, che è riuscito in qualche modo ad arrivare al bronzo nei suoi -58kg, ma che non mi ha fatto una buona impressione contro il nuovo fenomeno coreano Park, 17enne molto pericoloso in prospettiva futura. nei -80kg maschili, è arrivata (finalmente, prima che potessero innescarsi meccanismi psicologici pericolosi...meglio ora che in occasioni più importanti) la prima sconfitta stagionale per Simone Alessio, arrivato all'argento nei -80kg e poi fermato anche lui da un nuovo giovanissimo prodigio coreano, Seo. da male a malissimo, invece, gli altri azzurri impegnati in Inghilterra. infine, è iniziata anche la CdM di Nuoto in vasca da 25m, dove alcuni azzurri si sono cimentati con risultati incoraggianti (visto che era il primo vero meeting importante della stagione), anche se non stupefacenti.

yes, it might well be that this is a non official event, as it's never been contested before in any official competition. like a sort of demonstration/training event. however, imho, there are way too much (senseless) events in this championship. first, they should separate the juniors from the seniors...as it stands right now, it's really a mess. then, I think that all the team events (except for the Olympic mixed ones) are really redundant, especially those with only 6/7 Nations competing.

tbh, the Olympics in the last 20 years have been hyper Far East centric. most medal events added in that stint have gone to CHN, JPN and to a lesser extent KOR. and in any case, the "newest" sports have a lot of interest in those Nations (which isn't surprising, as China rules the world and JPN and KOR have the main sponsors feeding the IOC, except for the US TV stations, namely NBC).

any stadium with the athletics' track can easily host a cricket match at the highest level, it's only about putting a grass carpet over the track. but the size is there.

the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam ended earlier today with the last 3 men's weight classes (won by and ) and the last 2 women's weight classes (both won by ). This means that and shared the win of the final medal table with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze medal each). also got 2 Gold medals, meanwhile 8 more Countries ( and ) enjoyed a single full success. I agree... however, the T20 Cricket tournaments might be limited to 10 men and 8 women's teams...we're gonna have universality and a competitive tournament even with those numbers. personally I hope to see cricket replacing the 2 senseless "minor things" about Rugby (even if it's complicated, as you just can't have a proper 15-man rugby event at the Olympics and Rugby has lots of fans and economical power) and Basket (the only real Basketball game is the already established 5*5...having 3*3 out of the Games is a no brainer for me).

Swimming, men's 200 IM...I don't think I should even write who gets my pick...it's Michael Phelps, obviously. Table Tennis, women's Singles...close call between Deng Yaping and Zhang Yining...I go with Zhang Yining only because modern TT is more demanding than in the Nineties. Badminton, women's Doubles...I also go with the double Gold medallists, Ge Fei & Gu Jun. Badminton, mixed Doubles... Zhang Jun & Gao Ling are my pick.

De Aliprandini è discorso a parte. Oggi è caduto, ma stava andando relativamente bene. sono gli altri che mi preoccupano, in particolare mi aspetto che Franzoni diventi uno forte per davvero in Gigante, Super-G e Discesa, ma a quanto pare è ancora lontanissimo dal livello che mi attendo da lui. e vorrei che anche Dalla Vite trasferisse le medaglie juniores a livello senior (almeno fosse come Vinatzer, col vantaggio che in gigante di solito si esce meno spesso) in tempi rapidi, ma pure lui per ora è ben lungi dal rispettare il programma. il resto ormai si sa quanto vale, ovvero solo posizioni di rincalzo (un po' meglio di oggi, però).

yeah, they have quite a good tradition in Basketball (other than winning some silver and bronze medals in the Asian competitions, they qualified to the Basketball World Cup a few times and they did even beat Venezuela and France in 2006 and Canada in 2010...they ended up just one win short of qualifying for Beijing 2008 also).

Marius Fizel (+100kg class) is going to fight in the bronze medal bout at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam @hckošice he beat and in the preliminary rounds, then he lost to in the quarterfinals and finally he beat Khammo (not the last man of the ranking, actually, he's the world no.12 and he's won 3 world bronze medals, 1 gold and 1 bronze at the Europeans and 1 gold and 2 silvers in the grand slam tournaments) in the repechage round. his opponent in the BMM later today is Temur Rakhimov, not an easy match, tbh (the session starts @ 3 p.m. CET, there are 12/13 matches and 2 medal ceremonies before his fight...in SVK I think you can watch everything for free on the IJF website).
