Women’s EHF EURO 2018 draw held in Paris
The Women’s EHF EURO 2018 draw took place on Friday 21 April to determine the playing groups from which 28 teams will compete for 15 places at the final tournament in France. Seven-time champions and current title holders Norway will play from Group 1, facing Croatia, Ukraine and Switzerland over the course of six rounds played in September and October 2017, March 2018, and May and June 2018.
The top two teams from each group and the best-ranked third-placed team proceed to the final tournament in November and December 2018, for which France are automatically qualified as hosts. Two of the 28 teams to vie for places at the 13th Women’s EHF EURO are still to be determined, as Finland, Faroe Islands, Greece, Israel, Kosovo and Georgia will play Qualification Phase 1 in June with the winners of each group proceeding to Phase 2.
The playing groups for Qualification Phase 2 are as follows:
Group 1: Norway, Croatia, Ukraine, Switzerland Group 2: Montenegro, Poland, Slovakia, Italy Group 3: Sweden, Serbia, FYR Macedonia, winners of Qualification Phase 1 Group A Group 4: Romania, Russia, Austria, Portugal Group 5: Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Iceland Group 6: Spain, Germany, Turkey, Lithuania Group 7: Netherlands, Hungary, Belarus, winners of Qualification Phase 2 Group B
