  1. Not quite matching his PB of 15th from Zagreb 2021.
  2. So just another race which would have been deemed irregular if it was happening in Zagreb.
  3. A bad second run, but sill many DNFs, so Samuel should get some decent points. Most of all however, it's great to see the youngster in our team qualifying for the second runs consistently. Probably he secured his Olympic selection today. Either Rodeš or Vidović will miss out, which is crazy, since both have scored WC points multiple times, while Rodeš even has 6th place from Cortina 2021!
  4. Rodeš tested positive, and thus joins Vidović who is still out with COVID since last week. Will we have any skiers left for Beijing at this rate?
  5. For a moment it seemed like Sics/Sics might walk away with WC title this year, against all the odds... But not to worry, all is well in the luge world. FIL just casually decided to annul Eggert/Benecken's DQ in Winterberg from almost a month ago. The leading gap is now smaller and Sics/Sics will likely lose their title today in St. Moritz. https://www.fil-luge.org/en/news/fil-annuls-disqualification-of-eggert-benecken
  6. To be fair, Japan (and Georgia) can place better than Canada in three events. If Messing messes up, Canada can lose a lot of ground in one event, while the ice dance couple can only do so much (especially in the free dance portion).
  7. WCSL quotas are an easy fix. Extra places should be awarded based on Top 30 ranking only if the same nation has someone else with WCSL points. New Zealand would only get one female spot instead of three, and so on.
  8. Take a good look now because you are not going to see these outfits very often.
  9. If there are one Olympics which feel magical on every existing video/picture, it's Lillehammer 1994.
  10. Lescinskaite 19th? Okay this explains how Wright got the nod...
  11. It's a richmen's world.... I mean, one thing is to name an athlete and have it at the Olympics just as a backup, quite another is to accept quotas with zero intention of using them! Though, let's wait, entry deadline is next week so maybe CAN/GER are leaving something out for the last minute.
  12. No more eligible nations (USA has maximum athletes for freestyle skiing) so the reallocation will not happen.
  13. Entry deadline is next week so I doubt they will decide anything before Streif.
  14. Winter Olympics peaked in Pyeongchang (following a couple of sub-par editions). It's all downhill from there.
  15. Bach is a crowd though. Surprised he is still not insisting to visit a random place in China before the Opening ceremony. For example, Tibet.
  16. No updates are coming through from biathlon and bobsleigh, so I guess our team of 11 is pretty final. 6 alpine skiing, 3 cross-country skiing, 1 snowboarding, 1 short track. Pretty disappointing when you realize that Dutch NOC waiving their own selection policy reduced your team size by over 25%...
  17. Wow that makes it really shady then. Pilot gets citizenship while breakman does not. As if they just wanted a commodity they did not already have. Bobsleigh pilots are indeed an investment.
  18. Yeah, both driver and main pusher have competed for less than a year ago, and obviously took an easy way out to make it to the Olympics. They would make a pretty lame movie.
  19. Probably the same could be said about Winter Olympians from many nations.
  20. Russia gold, USA silver. Could be vice versa. Canada could place from 2nd to 5th. 4th seems like the likely outcome.
  21. Surely there must be a sanction against NOCs who accept quota places and then literally choose to leave them at home...?
  22. Meanwhile, if there is one natiom that might genuinly forget to check their reallocations, it's .
  23. Not convinced they will. Sweden tends to be strict in sports they are good at, but they also tend to be open minded to new sports and new athletes.
