  1. But then again, it will create trouble whenever someone fails to deliver their votes on time. What happens then? Another juror steps in? Who? What is the deadline for this additional vote? In the end it's just easier to use 3-1-0 system. After all, 3-1-0 system is used commonly in sports, and immitating sport tournaments seems to be the aim of this format. Votes difference can be used for tie breaks though. Knowing how TISC voting usually goes, probably quite a few of them will need to be resolved.
  2. Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Faisal Al Qasimi banned for 20 years for giving his horse Xylazine. His ban expires 27 May 2040. https://inside.fei.org/content/fei-tribunal-hands-down-record-sanction-horse-abuse-case
  3. Yeah, Putin basically ruined the Winter Olympics with his Sochi vanity project.
  4. We already saw "Holland. The Original Cool." in Croatia though.
  5. On this day, RFK was shot by Sirhan Sirhan. Sirhan Sirhan is right up there among the assasins with memorable names... Although, it's a question whether or not he was the actual perpetrator (like it is with basically any other assasination of that era ).
  6. Is this one from Zakrzow CDI?
  7. Hopefully you can keep @Sindo (or some other non-participant) in the loop, so that they can at least post the daily results in case you are not able to.
  8. Yes, 16 days should be quite ideal duration-wise for a tournament like this one. It will probably allow to have a couple of days between the matches of the same group, keeping the anticipation high. I like the idea of a special Opening Ceremony / TISC tribute, too.
  9. For the group matches, I guess you can first randomize the list of jurors, and then randomize the list of matches for each juror. Each juror then gets allocated to the jury panel of the set number of matches (for example, they get allocated to the first 10 matches listed on their respective randomized list). If one of those matches is already filled, then the juror gets allocated to their 11th-listed match and so on. That way the jurors will be asked to vote in the same number of matches (give or take 1 match). Although, maybe there is a quicker way to allocate jurors.
  10. Well, I don't like the idea of users picking the same nation. Festival of Music never allowed that, and it never created any problems. If someone desperately wants to represent a certain nation (even though it's a side edition, but alright), they should just put the registration date in their diary and make sure they book it on time. Besides, having the same nation appear two or three times will make things less diverse and probably more confusing. As for the group scoring format... I'd prefer to have 3 points for the winner, 1 point each in case of a draw, and no points in case of a loss... That way the competition may go forward even if some user(s) fail to send their preferences on time. Additionally, I wouldn't like seeing users / entries getting diqualified from this edition. If someone fails to deliver their votes, they should still be allowed to vote again in the further rounds.
  11. Isn't that flag wrong? I can remember some sports events randomly using reversed coats of arms on flags, and thus leaving us all with the question "Why?".
  12. *what everyone's thinking*
  13. Meanwhile in Beijing 2008. @hckosice
  14. That helicopter sound made me think that we will be rejoining the peloton any second now.
  15. Pieter Weening joined Trek-Segafredo... And in doing so he was apparently required to make an Instagram profile.
  16. Australia was on fire?
  17. Yeah, purists hate the likes of Feierabend and Skjoeld having Olympic medals. I don't really mind it though.
  18. It's a bullshit season anyway, so how would it matter anyway? Although, if you ask me, everything is BS in F1 these days, corona or no corona. Whenever I try to watch it, I can't help but feel strong disdain over that ridiculous noise the cars are producing these days. I can survive for about 5 laps before turning it off, usually.
  19. This + imagine how much control over their lives 11-year olds have in more oppressive countries.
  20. I remembered it well... Cross-country was indeed a LOT of fun. Only the OBS commentators were quite meh. Originally I watched it on BBC, and upon rewatching I could remember moments that provided both excitement and laughs for their crew. OBS commentators, meanwhile, barely raised their voice at any point, and they completely missed out on the comedic points as well (for example Andrey Mitin dunking his head in the barrel of water after completion)...
  21. Wow, that's really a lot. In the end, mass testing hasn't really been proven as something too beneficial. 6000 tests with 0 positives seems like a waste of resources. Insurance homes will suffer if they don't adapt the number of tests according to the actual needs.
  22. Coming up next: Riots against violent riots? Riots against violent riots against violent riots? I can see the first one happening in all honesty. Screw COVID.
  23. It's just mocking the blanket statements I'm seeing all over the internet. Sadly.
