  1. There is a big difference. These current behind-closed-doors events are singular events. Anything more complex is still getting dismissed (including every single multi-sport event, from the Universiade and EYOF, to South-South-East Asian Games or whatnot). Not a single multi-sport event was held since the pandemic started, so there is really nothing one can use as reference in this case. Using 30 empty venues and bringing so much logistics to one city does not seem very justified. You may as well hold the events concurrently all around the globe (like the Winter sports are doing, with somewhat decent success)...
  2. I am starting to wonder if all these injuries could have something to do with disrupted preparation period. At this point it is almost a daily occurance.
  3. They (Moderna) were stored at too low of a temperature. 2,100 doses out of about 10,000.
  4. About a thousand invalid vaccines have been administered in Sweden. Apparently there are no serious side effects (apart from probable ineffectivness)... So we are proven again and again that the World is simply not ready for such a widespread vaccination plan. Least of all the EU. Rate of vaccination is going slower than anyone could have imagined. Certainly when compared to some non-EU nations.
  5. Interesting to catch up on the 2019 Worlds results... South Africa finished 12th in men's and 14th in women's tournament. Both best ever results (admittedly, thanks to some really lucky outcomes). I suppose this could very well be the reason why their NOC said yes. Their women avoided the 15th place match by defeating South Korean... whatever that was. The men played draw against NZ and advanced to the play-off round thanks to more favorable goal difference.
  6. Nah... Japan lost to all their opponents at the 2019 Worlds ( ) by only 2 goals. They would eat France for breakfast. Cuba lost by 16 goals to Greece and 13 to Spain. Respectable. Kazakhstan defeated Cuba. New Zealand lost by only 9 goals to the Netherlands. So, yeah, all of them would be able to beat France on paper (some more than others)...
  7. Men's skeleton circuit has two Austins, two Florians, and one Austin Florian.
  8. Oh. Kaukenas pulled a Kaukenas.
  9. HUN vs ITA 6:6 GRE vs NED 5:5 Yeah, this helped.
  10. Common misconception. Those weird game shows often associated with Japan are not real shows. Those are just professional comedians doing their job.
  11. Will Martin Haven get shamed for not knowing another backyard live stream?
  12. What's up with new users flocking in for women's water polo of all sports?
  13. Just one thing. Japan should not be a scapegoat for global entertainment.
  14. Nanna Skodborg Merrald is finally back (scoring 73 point something today). The Danish dream would be for Merrald to become another Dufour... Would pretty much guarantee them team silver in Tokyo. At least. Not beyond the realms of possibility. Very talented, if not hyped, rider.
  15. Handball for example used to have as few as 6 teams, and their increase of participation was gradual. France being the best unqualified team (on a global level) is just wrong. It's like Georgia being the next best global team in women's volleyball (i.e. someone completely incapable of threatening other globally qualified teams).
  16. Women's water polo qualifications would work much better with teams already qualified also playing. Or just by using World Championships results. Using completely uncompetitive teams for draw fixing is just low. But also a proof why women's game still does not deserve 12 teams.
  17. Kočergina What a missed opportunity.
  18. I mean, surely some options are more fair than others...? This just can't work. Because at some point, biological men can just start declaring themselves as women in order to get scolarships, medals, livelihood etc. So much easier than doping (and above board at that).
  19. Can't believe I am saying this, but I am seriously starting to consider entering a trap song for the Annual.
  20. Why exactly? It's not like basketball and volleyball are immune to such turnarounds. Quite the opposite in fact.
  21. So I just found out that they are serving Croatian wine (Dingač and Zinfandel) on the inauguration.
  22. No? If that were the case, then millions would still be out on the streets (as opposed to the modest-sized crowd that lynched the Capitol).
