  1. There's no alternative host so no way they lose the games.
  2. They've been recognised by the IOC since 1995.
  3. I wouldn't say there's no chance at all but if World Netball had better leadership they'd be in a much better position than they currently are.
  4. Men have only been included in the FAST5 Netball World Series since 2022 and only because they're desperate to get into the Olympics so they've belatedly started building the men's international game. Not so long ago in 2018 the World Netball outrageously declared that international netball will remain female only bucking the trend of all the other sports federations moving towards gender equality. Imagine if they hadn't spent decades sabotaging the growth of the men's game in order to keep it "female only"? They'd have been in a much better position to bid for inclusion in the Olympics at least for 2032.
  5. Do you mean lifesaving or surf lifesaving? The former is probably more likely because the latter really only has decent amount of participation in a few countries.
  6. Would love to be a fly on the wall at some of those sessions. I hope they'll find time to compete at a domestic meet during their time in Australia but nationals falls after they leave (April 21-24) and the only other meets in that region between now and then are kinda below their level. Think it's gonna be a bit of a strange year for Australian swimming with quite a few of the athletes looking like they'll not be in anything like top shape.
  7. She should be fine doing the 50 in 2028. McEvoy is even talking about going to 2032.
  8. Katir banned for four years for tampering
  9. Leon Marchand will also train with Boxall for a few months starting in January. https://www.smh.com.au/sport/swimming/he-s-dubbed-the-next-michael-phelps-and-he-s-heading-down-under-to-train-with-our-best-coach-20241220-p5kzy1.html
  10. Basically every swim is near the top of all time age rankings. Some by quite a large margin.
  11. Gout Gout has been making waves the last couple of days at a national school meet in Australia
  12. Some more Russians including Evgeniia Chikunova and WJR holder Miron Lifintsev have been approved to compete as neutrals but still no Kliment Kolesnikov.
  13. The NFL are pushing had to develop flag football in Australia in hopes of getting it included in 2032. I hope they fail tbh. Single gender sports fail the gender equality requirement so netball is out unless they can rapidly fix their gender problem. World Netball not so long ago was refusing utterly to sanction men's international netball or even support the growth of men's netball so they kind of sabotaged themselves and are only changing courses out of self interest because Brisbane was awarded the Olympics. It doesn't even make sense to propose Aussie rules given how poor the participation is outside of Australia.
  14. And another one bites the dust. Kenyan runner Emmaculate Anyango given 6-year doping ban
  15. Could the exemption for clubs funded by the military help them? Or are they more involved in the military? See this article posted by SwimSwam today.
  16. Italian media reporting that Thomas Ceccon will train with Boxall at St Peters Western next year. https://www.oasport.it/2024/11/thomas-ceccon-si-allenera-in-australia-nel-2025-sara-seguito-da-un-tecnico-eccentrico/
  17. Gout Gout started the new season with a bang. Doesn't turn 17 until the end of December so there's still a chance he can get down to Bolt's age record of 20.13
  18. Quite an impressive World Cup series with numerous world records. Sets the stage for what could be the fastest short course worlds in history even with Australia sending a half-assed team.
  19. Anyone know when Sifan Hassan's next marathon will be?
  20. Now that the election has passed I think they'll go for a new stadium in Victoria Park. They were only being non-committal about their plans because building a new stadium in Brisbane is a vote loser in the northern part of the state. Rebuilding the Gabba just has too many problems including making AFL and cricket homeless during the rebuild.
  21. Now that the election has been won by the LNP that abominable plan to host athletics at QSAC is dead and buried.
  22. Their database is too poor for them to be able to accurately do this.
  23. Works fine for me with adblocking (Firefox + uBlock Origin).
