  1. Masse gets another gold! Wilm in 4th by just 0.03. Great race by both.
  2. Lots to look forward to tonight: Summer in the 200 fly final Oleksiak and Sanchez in the 100 free semi Liendo in the 100 free final Masse and Wilm in the 50 back final Wog in the 200 breast semi Women's 4x200 final
  3. Kelsey Wog qualifies 1st in the heats for the 200 breaststroke!
  4. Oleksiak and Sanchez easily into the 100 semis in 2nd and 5th, respectively.
  5. And 200 Butterfly. Penny's time from Tokyo in the 200 free would have comfortably given her the gold here. Ugh. Hoping it'll drive her more in the 100.
  6. Summer qualifies first for the 200 Fly! I still have no idea how she outtouched the American at the end.
  7. Thought Masse was going to steal it right at the end there, but still a great silver performance!
  8. With Haughey pulling out of the 100 and 200 free, Oleksiak is the only medalist from Tokyo in either of those races to compete in Budapest (bronze in the 200). And seeing as she finished 4th in the 100, looking pretty good there, too.

  10. Not a great final for Harvey in the 200 IM, 2.5 seconds slower than her semi time, way behind the field. Not sure what happened there.
  11. Good swim by Masse to finish 2nd overall in the heats without breaking a sweat. Ruck misses semis by 0.01.
  12. Great swim by the ladies. Improved from Tokyo last year, timewise.
  13. Only .05 out of the top 3 in the semis. But Walsh and Hayes looked really good, it'll be hard to catch them.
  14. Waiting for the evening swim session, I was just going through some of the times from the morning vs Tokyo. I had another look at the men's 4x100 relay, the one Canada finished a close 4th in. Obviously it was Chalmers' last leg that got AUS ahead of Canada, but the numbers are something else. Chalmers had the fasted time in the relay by far (a quarter of a second ahead of Apple's 2nd fastest, 7/10 of a second ahead of Canada's Kisil's 3rd fastest). If Chalmers went slow enough for Canada to remain in 3rd at the end, he still would have had the 2nd fastest time comfortably. Chalmers' 56.44 was the fastest 100 at the Olympics since Lezak's inhuman's time (46.06) in 2008 in his anchor leg to get Phelps' his 8th gold, and 2nd fastest ever. And remember, 2008 was during the fast suit era. Canada's time in Tokyo would have got them on the podium in every Olympics except 2008, again the fast suit era. The reason I find all this interesting is because I feel like the men's 4th place is often overlooked, but it was completely unexpected and without a crazy last leg from Chalmers would have gotten them on the podium last year. Here's hoping they can do something special in Budapest, even though I know it's not likely.
  15. I remember watching her in Tokyo. In 1st after 4/6 throws I believe, still in a podium position until the last throw. Strong performace. Looking forward to seeing her again at the WC next month.
  16. We're just getting out of "soft" lockdown here in Beijing (don't ask what "hard" lockdown is). After months of not being able to find Bing Dwen Dwen anywhere in this country, I stopped by a random gas station by my place the other day to find this. Not even the surviving Olympic shops have this sort of supply.
