  1. no heart attack therefore the Nigerian finished the match in less than 30 seconds
  2. a last minute takedown to win the second quota for Guam I think they are in the same weight, but one of them had to make the sacrifice and go to the next weight. it was the other way around in Tokyo , this time it worked for both of them
  3. that was a very stupid way to lose the match and the quota she just let her opponent to score (probably she thought the ref already stopped the match but he didn't) first defeat for Nigeria and first quota for Egypt
  4. I'm no expert in women's wrestling but since i watched the morning session I think Cameroon is probably the favorite for that quota as for Cape Verde, I think she can only hope the Nigerian girl suffers a heart attack or something before the match, I mean accidents happen but she needs more than just a miracle to qualify but never say never
  5. quota matches in women's wrestling 50kg: vs and vs 53kg: vs and vs 57kg: vs and vs 62kg: vs and vs 68kg: vs and vs 76kg: vs and vs realistic chance for Aquino sisters to win quota(s) for Guam.
  6. perfect 100% record for Algeria, they won 5 out of 5 quotas. for whatever reason they have nobody at 130kg (they had someone but he lost by default, which means he was either absent or overweight) 5 for 4 2 and only 1 for and Morocco won a quota only because EGY already qualified that weight and ALG had no entry. someone had to win that stray quota
  7. that was the ugliest match ever and almost ended with a fight, lots of cautions, lots of head butting I'm really surprised by Egypt's poor performance here. they are winning quotas but they already lost one and in 3 other matches (60, 77 and now 87) it went to a late big throw for a comeback. (better opponents won't let you score like that) Egypt was supposed to dominate this competition in Greco-Roman.
  8. Comoros was very close to win a very surprising quota , leading 5-2 with 1 minute to go but his defense was terrible, he was standing wrongly the whole time and finally gave up a 4pts throw, he had this coming and I was sure it will happen sooner or later.
  9. none ! 3 tournaments should be considered for the seeding, 2023 Worlds, 2024 Zagreb Open and 2024 Asian Championships. they could show the seeding right now (like they did with other continents) but that wasn't final since the Asian Champ will happen later, so this time they decided to not show the seeding until it's final.
  10. seeds belong to the wrestlers, not the country. only few wrestlers in each weight are going to both events but still they can change the seeding if they do good at the Asian Champs but most of them are weak and won't be able to do that. top countries send two different teams
  11. You can enter whoever you want, no restriction but it's hard to cross the name of an Olympic medalist off. I still would send him even though he was surprisingly terrible today
  12. Asian Qualifier Entry list https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eee8091-0dc1-62ce-aece-29d4b609d8de they didn't write the seeding this time, obviously because we will have the Asian Champs one weak earlier
  13. that was a very quick session, most of the matches finished in the first period quota matches in Greco-Roman 60kg: vs and vs 67kg: vs and vs 77kg: vs and vs 87kg: vs and vs 97kg: vs and vs 130kg: round robin, and 99.99% qualified
  14. I see lots of wrestlers registered for both Greco and FS competitions and some of them simply just withdrew ! they probably tried their chance to see if they get a super easy draw in Greco (and withdrew when they didn't) only 3 wrestlers are actually competing at 130kg (4 registered, 3 of them are in freestyle too, 1 withdrew) first surprise of the day and probably the biggest one. Mohammad El Sayed the only Olympic medalist in this competition just lost to Nasr, and it wasn't just an accident, the Tunisian guy really deserved it
  15. click on the same link I posted earlier . it's always like that for UWW events
  16. looking at the Greco brackets (tomorrow competitions) I expect Egypt to qualify a full team (they already have one) I can't see any of them in danger of losing the quota. but accident happens sometimes. TUN and ALG are next best countries in Greco but in some weights they are in the same half as Egypt. I think all 12 qualified wrestlers will be from these 3 countries. but I hope to see some surprises
  17. the list is updated now, Naifonov and the great Sadulaev is added for Russia (they won other 4 FS quotas already) Russians Komarov and Kurugliev are added too after "solving" their passport/eligibility problems lots of hot favorite are unseeded which means being seeded means almost nothing and luck/draw will play a big factor here. for example if you are in the same half as Sadulaev, you are already out. apparently he is healthy now and will run over these guys. or at 86, Naifonov and Kurugliev will win the quota unless they fall in the same half.
  18. with IOC politicizing sports, all teams should be allowed to play whoever they want. they can't play that card of "sports and politics are separated" anymore. does AFC 1 mean whoever wins the cup ? in this case Iraq (for example) simply won't win the cup. they settle for the silver even if they reach the final. both Japan and Korea were unimpressive during the qualifiers, Iraq and KSA too but I assume they will bring a better squad for the main tournament. Uzbekistan on the other hand had a good team, they completely dominated our super shitty U23 team and could win the match 5-0 or something (the match ended 1-0 and Iran still missed the cup because of having more yellow cards ) but we know Uzbeks always find a way to choke in important matches. so I won't bet on them while I still think they have the best current U23 team in Asia won't be cheering for Australia. they could beat Tajikistan by as many goal as they wanted but somehow (maybe intentionally) settled for a draw which resulted in eliminating us. (not really blaming them, the format sucks)
  19. both of our athletes won the quota quite easily sometimes you have to work really hard. travel around the world. participate in so many tournaments in 2-3 years to qualify but sometimes it can be very easy like today and yesterday. Taekwondo qualification system is really weird, it shouldn't be like this
  20. quota fights 58kg M: vs / vs +80kg M: vs / vs 57kg W: vs / vs +67kg W: vs / vs no quota for Afghanistan Mohsen Rezaee who was their best chance in all sports lost two close rounds to the Palestinian athlete (if I'm not wrong a former World Junior medalist) and Amiri at +80 lost a very close match to TPE.
  21. no I don't think so. they made it clear in the rules that the reallocation will happen with respect to that original rule so I assume that will go to the next available athlete. (from Brazil if he doesn't qualify himself directly in Pan-Am)
  22. because Ulugbek Rashitov was already qualified at 68kg. they had just one more male spot available
  23. Africa/Oceania qualifier entries https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/1eee288e-262c-6d64-a25c-3f0e9d4ebcc0 more wrestlers in freestyle. in Greco some weights have only 4 or 6 athletes
  24. there are something like 3 millions Afghans living in Iran (legally or illegally), so I guess that's the answer. most (if not all) of their Taekwondo athletes grew up here. my point is, he probably had both options. when he didn't make the Afghan team, he used the plan B.
