  1. without doubt but well, we can consider Karelin as the best male Greco wrestler ever, because Lopez is probably not even human.
  2. Lopez is simply unbeatable. he is just not human, I knew nobody can beat him but still tried to be positive and gave Mirzazadeh some chances to challenge him and I think he tried his best. that's the best you can do against Lopez. nobody even scored against Lopez since 2008 at the Olympics! Lopez knew he already won the gold after beating his only possible opponent, that's why he was happy after the win. SF and final will be too easy for him. Lopez lost 3 matches since 2005 and everybody knew he lost on purpose, he never really lost a match since 2004 QF vs Baroev which he lost narrowly. he is surely the best Greco wrestler all time and he confirmed it once again. I won't be surprised if he tries his luck again in LA. he is not human after all. both of our wrestlers today simply lost to better wrestlers, no complain but still it feels bad to lose again, even in our favorite sport I hope Mirza wins the bronze tomorrow which I think he will (probably easily) we badly need a medal of any color.
  3. Iran is next in line to get the quota as the next best ranked athlete at 2023 Worlds. but I think it's too late . the wrestling competition starts in few hours. and beside that we don't have a 57kg wrestler ready to jump on the mat right now. they are mostly 3-4 kg heavier in their normal life. still it would be nice to have a full team. it's kind of obsession but I assume they will leave it to 15 wrestlers.
  4. is Serbia sending someone else instead ? I assume not
  5. I'm a bit (more than a bit) tired but if I have to write something short 60kg draw is very unbalanced (we already knew it based on the seedings) I expect Sharshenbekov vs Mammadov in the final . the bottom half is much easier with 3 relatively weak wrestlers. I think Mammadov only has Ciobanu as a serious threat. on the top half, everybody expects KGZ vs JPN semifinal. the winner of Basar vs Tibilov might be able to change that. I don't expect too much from our guy. he can beat Fumita but I don't think he will. in 130kg we will have the early final in the 2nd round. Mirzazadeh vs Lopez. I think only Mirza has a chance to challenge the Cuban monster. he is 42 and we didn't see him wrestle for a while. still I think he will be clear favorite. no chance for anybody else in that half to even win a bronze everybody in bottom half can consider himself lucky. 4 or 5 wrestlers are capable of winning bronze and silver. TUR, EGY, CHN and maybe LTU (he was a late addition and probably not ready)
  6. maybe it was different because today was not a competition day 13:30 is weird though, that's in middle of the competition and some team staffs probably have to leave the competition to attend this ! this is the whole "schedule" https://cdn.uww.org/2024-06/infos_08_paris.pdf
  7. nope , sooner 13:30 each day
  8. they just finished the draw. which had a live stream our 130kg world champion will meet Mijain Lopez in the 2nd round. WTF
  9. that was really sad. really hard to watch hopefully this is nothing very serious. at least she already has an Olympic gold
  10. Yes that's correct but any last minute withdrawal/change can change this for example 74kg bracket is wrong, because Tsabalov is added now and he will be seed #7
  11. Sorry if this is a silly question but did they change something about the false start rule ? I saw some FS in the heats and the athlete was allowed to run . they are not disqualifying for the 1st false start anymore?
  12. well, blowing up 8pts lead mostly against the reserve guy. this will be really hard to swallow. 2021 Tokyo quarterfinal and now this. if I remember correctly we always had problems with this evil Bulgarian ref. never mind, what's done is done not sure if they can pull it together for the bronze medal match, which will be another uphill task against the refs. I expect a big loss, it's near impossible to come back from this. looks like another 4th place in fencing and we have to wait another week for a medal.
  13. This is probably the last chance for these guys to win a major medal. they are all 30 or older if Abedini didn't retire earlier we could have a better shot, our 3rd guy is simply not in this level and Pakdaman/Rahbari have to make up for him too. 4th place is already a great result but hopefully they can go one step further this time
  14. Babulfath certainly inherited something from her father because protesting to the referee is simply in our blood but that was too much, she was really lucky to not get DQed. btw what a talented kid
  15. once again whoever beat Pakdaman went all the way to win the gold medal
  16. somewhere between 6 to 9 anything less than 6 will be hugely disappointing
  17. I think the last part is not correct, he is getting the quota because he is the best ranked eligible wrestler at the 2023 World Championship. he finished 9th and everybody above him is already qualified. Czech could send someone else but I assume they don't have anybody. this means there is still time for changes, we will probably see Lithuania at 130kg Greco too. they just removed the Tunisian from the start list.
  18. I'm not a Rugby expert like most of you guys. I watch some matches every World Cup and the Olympics. know the basic rules etc from my uneducated view, as a random fan, I think Rugby 7s needs some changes. we rarely see drop goals or penalties in this version (at some point I thought that's not even in the 7s rules ) isn't it better to give 1 pt to each try and make it more understandable for amateur fans? and about the time, it's really annoying that in a 14-minutes match they do NOT stop the clock when the match is stopped. I would also suggest a smaller field. You probably hate my ideas but that's just what I thought after watching 2 days of rugby sevens
  19. this explains a bit doping DSQ for Erdemir https://olympics.com/OG2024/pdf/OG2024/BOX/OG2024_BOX_C67_BOXM71KG--------------------------1.pdf and no show for Leta https://olympics.com/OG2024/pdf/OG2024/BOX/OG2024_BOX_C67_BOXM57KG--------------------------2.pdf
  20. Tunisia still can send someone else , the quota belongs to the NOC, not the wrestler. but if they don't, there is nobody else in African qualifier to replace him. only 2 wrestlers finished the competition in that weight. (2 more guys were there but they got disqualified for not finishing the round robin competition) per rules, this should become a universality quota but I think it's impossible to go through that process in such a short time. therefore this goes to the next best ranked wrestler at the 2023 World Championships which is Lithuania. but I also think it's possible if they do it with 15 wrestlers. (which means seed #1 will get a bye in the first round)
  21. his name is not on ITA's list either https://ita.sport/sanction/united-world-wrestling-uww/ but sometimes they are a bit slow, if this is true, his name will appear in this list some time soon. (unless this is a local test thing)
  22. some sources here report that "possible" drug cheat Khetag Tsabolov won something in the court and he is going to the Olympics after all (they were supposed to send a Greco wrestler Ali Arsalan instead of him) I just checked and Tsabolov's name had been removed from ITA's list which confirms the reports.
  23. Our possible gold medalists will receive something around 300,000$, wrestlers will get an extra ~100,000$ from their own federation Dollar/Rial exchange rate changes daily and hourly , so it might be different when they actually receive the money few months later.
  24. and time to break the Olympic curse I remember the days when Italy dominating the World Champs (and World League) with Velasco and the coach before him but still always failed the tie break against the Netherlands at the Olympics ! actually I just re-watched the 1996 final recently. have to say volleyball looked like a completely different sport back then.
