  1. Good question, I don't know. btw what happened to Romanian sport, I was checking the final medal table and I was really surprised to see some sporting nations like Romania, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland lower than us and we are not even happy about our results
  2. Yes and he got naturalized only few months ago. his celebration with Romanian flag was funny
  3. I wish I could watch the match, only saw the final score and the weirdest protest ever !
  4. wow, that was quick, I knew Yazdani wasn't mentally ready for the repechage but still this guy wasn't in his level. he used the element of surprise to pin Yazdani so quick. 3 olympcis and no medal for one of our best ever wrestler. he won medal in almost every tournament he entered except these 3 Olympics. so this is it, only 8 medals .
  5. At least they accepted this one on Franklin Gomez https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/united-world-wrestling-statement-on-final-day-of-wrestling-competition the funny thing is they said nothing about the Jury, who has to review the video request, as far as I know that guy who also screw up our wrestler is from Uzbekistan !! this is funny to use him in a match involving an Uzbekistani wrestler. one word corruption
  6. I think you better watch this video, they explain things better than me. http://www.flowrestling.org/video/988213-corruption-olympic-officials-ejected
  7. that 30 seconds caution happend before this, (even though one can question that caution too, Gaz was the passive wrestler there) but this is another action, Yazdani was 1-0 down at the time. he wasn't on shot clock. btw this comment shows you don't know the rule in this sport ! because when the wrestler on 30-seconds shot clock is attacking and is about to score they don't stop the match and let the action continue even if that 30 seconds clock expires.
  8. Only two wrestlers could beat Yazdani today, Boltukaev and Gazyumov. they were bad matchup for Yazdani while for example Snyder could be easy him even Americans know that. the Russian didn't bring his drugs to Rio therefore lost easily. Gazyumov is big and strong, it's always hard to score against him specially when he is defending the entire 6 minutes. I'm talking about the last action in 1st period. Yazdani had the control, Gazyumov's knee clearly touched the mat which means 2pts takedown. I have the picture of that action I just don't know how to post it here, his knee clearly touched the mat. only the center referee from Finland gave 2pts. yes no gold yet That's exactly why they are helping your wrestlers today. btw Yazdani got injured badly few months ago, he is still seriously injured, I just hope he come and wins this bronze medal to end his great career with an Olympic medal. 4 years ago in London he was on his way to the gold but got injured against the same Ukrainian guy he is supposed to wrestle in bronze medal match today, if he wins repechage matches.
  9. yeah somtimes when the gap was bigger than 2-3 points, there were also some dubious calls in Chamizo-Asgarov match, but can't say for sure , has to watch the reply first. freestyle officiating was better until today, not completely though and I didn't even watch all the matches.
  10. Gadisov and the rest of Dagistani wrestlers boycotted their nationals, Boltukaev destroyed everybody to the title, they didn't give Gadisov another chance since he lost before in other international tournament. Boltukaev was great in pre-Olympic matches but now here under serious doping control, he gasses easily.
  11. and Puerto Rico got robbed against Uzbekistan ! this is the last day of the Olympics, they need money and can't wait another 4 years for that.
  12. what a mistake by our coach, why the hell you are challenging a decision against Azerbaijan ? they own UWW. they will NEVER change decision against Azerbaijan. Gazyumov's knee touched the mat and Yazdani got robbed, but we knew how it works. with Boltukaev losing ,Yazdani had gold medal in his pocket winning this one.
  13. lol what a quick day for Nasiri. worst defense ever, we had a gold medal caliber wrestler in this weight in Ahmad Mohammadi . they forced him to wrestle this guy when he was injured, made his injury much worse and therefore killed our chance for a possible gold. that's why I hate this "trial" system. when you know who is better, just send him to the Olympics.
  14. yes I think he does, he is not the favorite but he has a chance
  15. Today was the first time I watched almost an entire Modern Pentathlon competition, seriously I never want to disrespect any sport but honestly the running/shooting part was like a circus ! some people were running to the left, some to the right. just inches away from each other I wonder if all those fans in stadium could understand what the hell is happening and where is the finish line !
  16. No there is not, Women's Greco-Roman doesn't even exist. never heard a single tournament I remember even during that IOC meeting (when they re-added wrestling) they asked UWW officials about it and the Canadian girl from UWW told them women around the world didn't show interest in Greco-Roman yet.
  17. he has a tough Mongolian in 1st round, then that Chinese guy I forgot to mention before, the dark horse here. if he can survives these 2 matches he has a chance, considering his age, It will be really hard for him to survive wrestling 4 close matches in 2 hours.
  18. VERY hard to predict. Ramonov on paper but from what I saw , Russian freestyle wrestlers was a bit out of shape here, (even Sadullaev didn't kill anybody here) with this crazy scheduling , the conditioning is very important here, in most wrestling tournaments there are usually 1-2 hours between matches, but here usually less than 30 minutes. so getting a bye in 1st round is a big thing, so I give more chances to those 3 guys in bottom half with "bye" in 1st round. Batirov maybe. Novruzov despite being a last year silver medalist never impressed me.
  19. Actually he has a good draw, the bottom half is much tougher, the Armenian is indeed a former world champion but he didn't even qualify for Rio. he was lucky to get invited because of that Meldonium case. his 2nd opponent will be probably easy for him. he has a tough semifinal against either Asgarov or Gadzhiev.
  20. The call was indeed controversial , but I have to say the whole officiating was terrible , the rules are not clear and this creates controversy First the center referee should not stop the match while the American still had the leg and was attacking , that was a mistake in first place. with that stop they "had" to give that 1point and caution to the Cuban which could win the match for him. but they probably gave that 2 pts to Cox to make up for that early mistake. terrible terrible officiating. btw Cox somehow got robbed in semifinal against the naturalized Russian wrestler (representing Turkey) they had to make up for that.
  21. well, even if Cho wins the semifinal, he has to beat Obame and the loser of Shokin-Issoufou , not going to happen here.
  22. And for the first time ever our male team will leave the Olympics without a medal. right when we thought we have our best ever team this time, we got our worst ever results. I don't know what to say , they were great for 2-3 years but saved their worst for the Olympics , when it matters.
  23. This is the first freestyle gold after 16 years. I knew he will become a great wrestler one day but this year he wasn't in my "gold medal favorite" list. but this kid is something special also congrats for Rahimi and his bronze, after 4 years of hard work he deserves an Olympic medal. but seriously I believe he could win the gold if they had scouted Higuchi . he had no clue about the Japanese in first 2-3 minutes, he started his comeback a bit late.
  24. because that wasn't a "real" challenge, that was a dirty tactic by Russia. The Russian coach knew Geduev was going to give up the takedown so he tried to throw the challenge to get the action stopped. Fortunately the ref ignored it. the last call wasn't even questionable. that was a takedown in middle of that mat !
  25. Even though I'm sad Khodabakhshi is out for bronze but I'm somehow happy the traitor Beigi lost the semifinal . he had beaten Lutalo by 12pts gap before but he lost when it matters, after all he is still Iranian and couldn't handle the pressure
