Tokyo Summer Olympic Games 2020 News
MHSN replied to uk12points's topic in Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
I think the only one who deserved to be in the Olympics was Climbing, A true sport, but similar to any of current program sports. not corrupted Karate can give us more medals so I'm OK with this one as well even though we will have so many people here complaining about the officiating in this sport, even more than boxing -
Records in nationals or other internal competitions mean nothing for the real competition , most athletes lift around 10kg less,
-
the thing is , if they get the Israel athlete in 1st round he has to withdraw, and then IOC will investigate the situation and by not sending him, they already solved the problem. weightlifting is not a problem , not a head-to-head sport. the only problem is men's 58kg Taekwondo and the Iranian there is the top favorite for the gold.
-
Iran withdrew the spot on men's 66kg. not sure if they notify IJF in time to replace him with someone else. officially the guy Alireza Khojasted had "family issues" and didn't go to Rio but the truth is they made him withdraw because there is Israel is his weight. the same thing happened to Javad Mahjoub 4 years ago. and yes I know this is extremely stupid
-
Usually One day before the competition, in general meeting. yes the Chinese girl was a medal contender, actually the top contender for the gold but now they traded a possible gold with a sure gold medal ! China wants all 4 female gold medals and they will probably win it. I think only China is capable of such changes, other countries already sent their bests .
-
1) if nobody bombs out, Salimi and Talakhadze will challenge for the gold and silver but then we have few athletes fighting for the bronze. Velagic is not among them, his chance is less than 5% in my opinion. 2) Of course, it's just harder ! much harder 3) Good question, I'm not sure about the answer. I think they have to notify WADA about their whereabouts but WADA probably doesn't test already banned athletes too much. our 94kg weightlifter Sohrab Moradi who is a clear gold medal favorite here had to sit out for 8-9 months more because someone mistakenly registered him as "retired" for IWF. they don't test "retired" weightlifters. and since they didn't test him during his suspension period he had to weight few months to be tested few times to finally be eligible to compete.

Alireza Khojasteh withdrew from the Olympics because of "family reasons" !!! PS: this is nonsense, they made him withdraw because there is an Israeli athlete in his weight. the same happened for Javad Mahjoub 4 years ago. Khojasteh is just 19 and he had no chance but still this is stupid to deny him his right for such reason.

Updated start list http://www.iwf.net/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2016/08/Rio2016_List-of-Athletes-by-Event_Updated_01082016.pdf no Russia and there are few changes, most important China added Meng Suping (instead of their 48kg weightlifter) when they saw Kasherina is gone !

Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games 2016 News
MHSN replied to heywoodu's topic in Summer Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016
I just read that our athletes are neighbours to Norway and the Philippines -
Is this a joke or a real prediction ? I checked some of my favorite sports predictions and even though some of their wrestling and taekwondo prediction makes sense but in weightlifting, it's a total joke. some of these weightlifters will not even finish in top 10 ! imagine Nagy winning the super heavy weight
-
I understand they are "angry" because Russia brought shame into this sport, this is what they wrote in their statement but to me it's unbelievable they are letting Kazakhstan participate. this is more than obvious that in this country they have organized doping. their midget coach Alexey Ni is indeed involved in this. all of their Olympic gold medalists failed the test. they had so many positive tests in 2015 World Championship, most of their current team members tested positive before, ironically most of them Rahimov, Zaichikov and Ulanov were average athletes before the ban, but right after serving 2 years ban, they came back much much better ! this is obvious what they did during their suspension and IWF is still letting them participate. I can predict in 4 years we are talking about how Kazakh weightlifters failed in Rio 2016 retesting !
-
IWF sounds very angry about Russia ! yet they do nothing about Kazakhstan http://www.iwf.net/2016/07/29/iwf-eb-decision-on-russian-participation-at-the-rio-2016-og/ the Executive Board decided to withdraw the appointment of the Russian Technical Official from the Rio2016 Olympic Games. The integrity of the weightlifting sport has been seriously damaged on multiple times and levels by the Russians, therefore an appropriate sanction was applied in order to preserve the status of the sport. According to the Reallocation Policy, the Executive Board decided to offer the available Quota place to athletes from the following NOCs: Women ALB, GEO, MDA Men BEL, CRO, ESA, MGL, SRB

That's the problem because we have only 1 major event a year, some countries take continental championships serious, in Asia, most countries don't. for having a proper ranking, we should have some Grand Prix events, when all top wrestlers come and participate. which is not possible at the moment for the reason I already explained, they cut weight a lot. the only solution is having the weight-in 1-2 hours before the competition forcing them to not cut weight. at the moment when for example you watch a 65kg match, both wrestlers are actually 71-72 kilos at least ! because they had the weight-in one day before the competition.
-
here https://unitedworldwrestling.org/event/olympic-games click on Results and Videos and then Participants for each weight
-
of course it happens always in wrestling, 4 years ago in London we had unbelievably unbalanced draw at 66 and 85 freestyle which helped some wrestlers winning undeserved medals. actually this is the first time they are using some kind of seeding system. that's good for the start but if they want to have a proper ranking like Judo and Taekwondo they have to make top wrestlers to compete in more than 1-2 events per year which is not possible at the moment since everybody cuts a lot of weight. (at least 6-7 kilos) that will be revolutionary change in wrestling . Lalovic once said he is thinking about such an idea to force wrestlers to not cut weight.
-
well I didn't know too, maybe their main guy is already injured and they registered another one in case.
-
Nothing, wrestling world ranking is a joke, someone just sits and determines this ranking , there is no criteria about it. there will be no seeding in wrestling only 2015 world finalists will be separated and will have a bye in 1st round. they wll use blind draw for the rest.

UWW website has the name of all registered wrestlers , there are some interesting changes comparing to what we had/expected 57kg: Yang Kyong-il instead of Jong for PRK !!! Yang was retired as far as I knew but apparently he is back ! Kazakhstan also registered a new name Nurislam SANAYEV instead of Sanaa. but after a bit of research apparently he is the same person just with a new name ! lol after all he is originally from Russia USA is sending Daniel Dennis who won their trials over Ramos, Haji Aliyev is also there as expected 65kg only Iran and Turkey are changing their wrestlers, we already knew that, Mustafa Kaya in place of Yakup Gor and Meisam Nassiri instead of our injured gold medal hope Ahmad Mohammadi 74kg no change at all but India has to change Yadav because of doping. oops, I forgot we changed our wrestler here, Yazdani junior in place of Ghasemi. 86kg the only change is Sharifov in place of Khatiyev but we already knew that ! 97kg Iran, Russia and Ukraine are sending new wrestlers but again we knew that 125kg no change, the only question was about Ukraine, and they decided to send Zaseyev over Khotsianovski, both of those guys won the quota if you remember ! 59kg: wow ! Korea is sending a new name Lee Jung-baik ! what happened to that Kim guy who threw everybody at the worlds qualifiers ?!!! Russia is also sending Maryanyan and not Labazanov despite all news we heard. Mingiyan Semenov (but with his twin brother's name) won the quota for Russia 66kg only Russia had a change here, Albiev instead of Surkov, we knew that 75kg no change 85kg Chakvetadze instead of Mishin as expected but Egypt also registered a new name apparently, even though I'm not sure . Arabic names are confusing sometimes. 98kg interestingly Belarus registered two names here, Hrabovik and Dzienichenka ! and Hungary also registered the veteran Balasz Kiss instead of Varga who won the quota. 130kg few expected changes, Brazil is using their naturalized Armenian guy instead of poor Jaoude. Iran and Russia made a change here, Semenov and Babajanzadeh.

Wrestling Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016
MHSN replied to MantaRaymarc's topic in Wrestling
It seems they are going to take Lebedov's quota and give it to Belarus ! https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/wrestlings-special-commission-completes-review-of-russian-wrestlers-sends-recommendations Mr. Lebedev’s qualification spot has been replaced by the nation of the next best-ranked wrestler from his qualification tournament (2015 World Championships). That nation is Belarus (BLR). -
Doping Cases and Bans Thread (2016 & 2017)
MHSN replied to heywoodu's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
So we already have 31 positive in weightlifting, 21 in London, 10 in Beijing. 31 from 28 athletes as Zairov, Ilyin and Khurshudyan tested positive twice in both olympics ! here is the numbers Armenia 3 (from 2 athletes) Azerbaijan 4 (from 3 athletes) Belarus 4 Georgia 1 Kazakhstan 6 (from 5 athletes) Moldova 2 Russia 7 Turkey 3 Ukraine 1 if IWF still wants to ban countries with 3 positives tests, they have to ban Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey and maybe Armenia. I don't mention Azerbaijan as they are already banned. and there are more rumors about Kazakh weightlifters like Sedov and Grabotskaya That will be a crime if they let Kazakhstan participate, if you take a look, out of 5 male weightlifters they are sending to Rio, 4 of them had been banned before ! Kharki, Ulanov, Zaichikov and Rahimov. -

An Iranian website made an interesting research about where all these 63 athletes came from, here is the outcome there are 62 names in this list because Leila Rajabi is originally from Belarus and didn't raise in Iran, but if she had to be counted, she is competing from the province of "Bushehr" this is very interesting that Mazandaran has more numbers than the capital Tehran !! there are 19 provinces in this list, surprisingly nobody from Kurdistan, Ardabil or Gilan ! Mazandaran (12) Table Tennis 2 - Nima Alamian, Noshad Alamian Taekwondo 1 - Farzan Ashourzadeh Volleyball 2 - Adel Gholami, Mojtaba Mirzajanpour Weightlifting 2 - Mohammad Reza Barari, Behdad Salimi Wrestling 5 - Hassan Yazdani, Reza Yazdani, Komeil Ghasemi, Ghasem Rezaei, Bashir Babajanzadeh Tehran (11) Athletics 1 - Ehsan Haddadi Boxing 1 - Ehsan Rouzbahani Fencing 2 - Ali Pakdaman, Mojtaba Abedini Judo 1 - Saeid Mollaei Shooting 1 - Elaheh Ahmadi Taekwondo 1 - Mehdi Khodabakhshi Volleyball 2 - Hamzeh Zarini, Mehdi Mahdavi Wrestling 2 - Hassan Rahimi, Hamid Sourian Isfahan (5) Athletics 1 - Reza Ghasemi Shooting 1 - Golnoush Sebghatollahi Taekwondo 1 - Sajjad Mardani Volleyball 1 - Amir Ghafour Wrestling 1 - Sohrab Moradi Alborz (4) Judo 1 - Alireza Khojasteh Taekwondo 1 - Kimia Alizadeh Volleyball 1 - Shahram Mahmoudi Wrestling 1 - Alireza Karimi Khuzestan (4) Volleyball 2 - Saeid Abdevali, Habibollah Akhlaghi Wrestling 2 - Mohammad Mousavi, Mostafa Sharifat Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari (3) Athletics 3 - Mahmoud Samimi, Mohammad Arzandeh, Mohammad Jafar Moradi East Azarbaijan (3) Athletics 1 - Kaveh Mousavi Cycling 2 - Ghader Mizbani, Samad Pourseyedi Razavi Khorasan (3) Athletics 1 - Hassan Taftian Judo 1 - Javad Mahjoub Swimming 1 - Aria Nasimi-Shad Golestan (2) Athletics 1 - Pejman Ghalehnoei Volleyball 1 - Farhad Ghaemi Hamedan (2) Athletics 1 - Hamid Reza Zouravand Shooting 1 - Mahlagha Jambozorg Ilam (2) Shooting 1 - Pouria Norouzian Weightlifting 1 - Ali Hashemi Kermanshah (2) Table Tennis 1 - Neda Shahsavari Weightlifting 1 - Kianoush Rostami West Azarbaijan (2) Volleyball 2 - Saeid Marouf, Milad Ebadipour Zanjan (2) Rowing 1 - Mahsa Javar Wrestling 1 - Meisam Nassiri Fars (1) Wrestling 1 - Omid Norouzi Kerman (1) Archery 1 - Zahra Nemati Lorestan (1) Cycling 1 - Arvin Moazzami-Goudarzi North Khorasan (1) Shooting 1 - Najmeh Khedmati Qazvin (1) Volleyball 1 - Mehdi Marandi
