  1. Actually we won a gold this time in freestyle wrestling after 16 years. as for Taekwondo, Iran won two medals in 2004 , in fact winning 1 medal out of 2 athletes in 2008 and 2012 wasn't also a bad result even though we always expect 100% medals in taekwondo. but this time because of new rules we had 3 athletes. two of them clear favorite for the gold but we ended up with nothing , for the first time ever our male taekwondo team finished empty-handed. PS: we judge our men's team and women's team separately, as they have separate coaches and separate preparation system. Alizadeh won a bronze this time, but this has nothing to do with complete failure of our men's team.
  2. so many injuries (or fake injuries) but actually we had a long fight after Iran's 1st goal.
  3. what a lucky win ! scoring two goals at 90+4 and 90+11 !!! thanks to Qatari GK for that blunder we have to play much much better than this, we didn't deserve the win today but I take it, it was just the first match and a win is a win.
  4. UAE beating Japan in Japan was a big surprise for the 1st day, they also eliminated Japan in Asian Cup last year ! hope our guys don't let Qatar surprise us tonight.
  5. If you check the World Junior Championship you can't see any wrestler from Mongolia ! I heard about it but I wasn't sure , apparently UWW banned Mongolian wrestling federation until further announcement ! what those coaches did was stupid and they deserve heavy punishment but banning an entire nation for that is unbelievable .
  6. well I read a news about him on our local media, then googled his name and found so many Romanian websites writing about this. sad news. he was impressive in Rio, the worst part is they are giving his medal to a proved cheater.
  7. According to Romanian sources, 85kg bronze medalist in weightlifting Gabriel Sincraian tested positive and will lose his medal to Ulanov (KAZ)
  8. the law is only about traveling to Israel but Iranian athletes never face Israelis even though there is no written low against it. they won't be jailed if they do but I suppose they won't be in the national team anymore. in this case Alireza Jahanbakhsh is not representing Iran but a Dutch club so I think it will be fine for him to play the home match even though I'm not sure, one of our former NT player once played an Israeli team while he was in Sturm Graz (Austria) and nothing bad happened to him, it was 16 years ago though. After the 1979 revolution I can remember 3 times Iran and Israel had to face in team sports (twice in Paralympics) but Iran always found a way to refuse.
  9. They need him, he is a starter there but He won't go to Israel, he will be jailed in Iran if he go. this is officially illegal and considered a crime. (I'm not even sure if Israel give him visa) I think his club understands this otherwise he is in trouble. the only question is the home match in the Netherlands, since he is not representing Iran that's probably possible for him to play but I'm not sure.
  10. well, it means our Iranian player in AZ is in big big trouble, he won't go to Israel that's for sure. I don't know what he will do with the home match in the Netherlands. He is the 3rd Iranian player facing this problem.
  11. So if IWF wants to stand on what they announced about banning countries wth 3 or more positive tests ,they have to ban Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia and Turkey for at least one year !!!
  12. While I found Rugby Union very interesting, I think Rugby Sevens is kind of a joke, when they were inventing Rugby 7s. why they didn't create it with for example 10 players ?! I mean something more serious
  13. Letting host nation adding sports is a stupid idea, I understand if it happens in Universiade or some continental Games to make the host nation happy, but Olympics is bigger than this.
  14. whatever you want was it just a bad Olympic or you were expecting such results ?
  15. Good question, I don't know. btw what happened to Romanian sport, I was checking the final medal table and I was really surprised to see some sporting nations like Romania, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland lower than us and we are not even happy about our results
  16. Yes and he got naturalized only few months ago. his celebration with Romanian flag was funny
  17. I wish I could watch the match, only saw the final score and the weirdest protest ever !
  18. wow, that was quick, I knew Yazdani wasn't mentally ready for the repechage but still this guy wasn't in his level. he used the element of surprise to pin Yazdani so quick. 3 olympcis and no medal for one of our best ever wrestler. he won medal in almost every tournament he entered except these 3 Olympics. so this is it, only 8 medals .
  19. At least they accepted this one on Franklin Gomez https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/united-world-wrestling-statement-on-final-day-of-wrestling-competition the funny thing is they said nothing about the Jury, who has to review the video request, as far as I know that guy who also screw up our wrestler is from Uzbekistan !! this is funny to use him in a match involving an Uzbekistani wrestler. one word corruption
  20. I think you better watch this video, they explain things better than me. http://www.flowrestling.org/video/988213-corruption-olympic-officials-ejected
  21. that 30 seconds caution happend before this, (even though one can question that caution too, Gaz was the passive wrestler there) but this is another action, Yazdani was 1-0 down at the time. he wasn't on shot clock. btw this comment shows you don't know the rule in this sport ! because when the wrestler on 30-seconds shot clock is attacking and is about to score they don't stop the match and let the action continue even if that 30 seconds clock expires.
  22. Only two wrestlers could beat Yazdani today, Boltukaev and Gazyumov. they were bad matchup for Yazdani while for example Snyder could be easy him even Americans know that. the Russian didn't bring his drugs to Rio therefore lost easily. Gazyumov is big and strong, it's always hard to score against him specially when he is defending the entire 6 minutes. I'm talking about the last action in 1st period. Yazdani had the control, Gazyumov's knee clearly touched the mat which means 2pts takedown. I have the picture of that action I just don't know how to post it here, his knee clearly touched the mat. only the center referee from Finland gave 2pts. yes no gold yet That's exactly why they are helping your wrestlers today. btw Yazdani got injured badly few months ago, he is still seriously injured, I just hope he come and wins this bronze medal to end his great career with an Olympic medal. 4 years ago in London he was on his way to the gold but got injured against the same Ukrainian guy he is supposed to wrestle in bronze medal match today, if he wins repechage matches.
  23. yeah somtimes when the gap was bigger than 2-3 points, there were also some dubious calls in Chamizo-Asgarov match, but can't say for sure , has to watch the reply first. freestyle officiating was better until today, not completely though and I didn't even watch all the matches.
  24. Gadisov and the rest of Dagistani wrestlers boycotted their nationals, Boltukaev destroyed everybody to the title, they didn't give Gadisov another chance since he lost before in other international tournament. Boltukaev was great in pre-Olympic matches but now here under serious doping control, he gasses easily.
