  1. Tomorrow we have 10m Air Pistol at the shooting world cup in Munich. Hope Jitu Rai could medal. Would be a big boost
  2. Bad day in shooting. No one qualifies for the final in 50m prone rifle men and 25m rapid fire pistol men. Last time's medallist Gagan Narang seems to be struggling for form in all the events he's participating in
  3. Anisa Sayyed eliminated in 6th place in the semi-final. She was tied 4th after the semi-final and finished 6th after the shoot-off.
  4. Jitu Rai finishes 4th. A rollercoaster of a ride. Had a great first couple of rounds when he was among the medals. Then slipped to always be fighting elimination. Couldn't catchup with the medal positions. A very credible performance. Hope he peaks at the right time!
  5. Wikipedia tells me that the Uzbek boxer was different in the Asian qualifiers than the one here. Could be a case of the second best boxer representing them here as the quota has been won.
  6. She has already beaten Petrova of Bulgaria who has qualified for the Olympics. Although Petrova lost to Adams in the European qualifiers, there still is a glimmer of hope. Fingers crossed
  7. All our shooters in 10M air rifle men and women flop today. No one seems to be qualifying for the finals of the 25m air pistol women too. Heena Sidhu was disqualified while Gagan Narang did not start. Only positive was Jitu Raj's performance in the 50m pistol elimination round. Hope he carries his form in the qualifications and finals tomorrow.
  8. Certainly that's not how it worked the last time. Things will most probably and unfortunately get dirty this time around as well.
  9. I agree with you. Especially when it comes to playing for the country - he is a few notches above. That's why he is the most loved tennis player among fans, but also the most hated among the other Indian players. I'm pretty sure none of Sania and Rohan want to partner him. And if AITA and Leander want the opposite, something needs to be done.
  10. Hoping for a great performance by him at the French Open. Hope he goes all the way and not just sets the world record but enchants everyone with his great display and brings back a medal (or two)
  11. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/boxing/Indian-boxing-going-through-its-toughest-time-Mary-Kom/articleshow/52278851.cms A relevant article where our concerns are also voiced by Mary.
  12. I disagree. Narsingh won the bronze at the World Championships and Sushil with his experience and confidence for me is a gold medal candidate. I think whoever goes is a sureshot medalist. On the other hand, with AIBA ruling the roost in boxing, a knockout in each round is required to guarantee a medal
  13. A. R. Rahman also named as the goodwill ambassador for our Olympic contingent. Adds another great dimension!
  14. Mausam Khatri thrashes his Greek opponent in the round of 16.
  15. Sachin Tendulkar and Abhinav Bindra also appointed as Olympic goodwill ambassadors
  16. All 3 lose in the quarters. Sad end
  17. Click on the buttons (recurve, compound, men and women) below the search option. You'll get the results.
  18. Our compound archers have all exited the individual competition
  19. Only Atanu Das loses in the round of 16. Rest 3 are in Q/Fs Go India go!!
  20. Some good news from archery: Indian men's team did well in the qualification stage of the Archery World Cup finishing 3rd. The women boosted by Deepika Kumari's world record equalling performance finished 4th. Deepika and Atanu Das are also into the bronze medal match of the mixed recurve category.
  21. Viswanathan Anand not retiring and will take another shot at Candidates. We'll get to see the legend in action again. Yay!
  22. Deepika Kumari equals world record in the qualifying round of archery world cup in Shanghai. Great piece of news!!
  23. I have not followed this saga much but here are my 2 cents: I am not sure why there is so much of fuss over Salman's appointment. I feel he 'can' be a great ambassador. Let's now hope that he does well and is encouraged. Criticism can be reserved once we are at a stage to judge his work as the ambassador.
