  1. Indian women lose and are out of the T20 world cup.
  2. Marykom wins against the Kazakh boxer!
  3. Sarita Devi wins her bout 3-0 and advances to the quarterfinals of the women's 60kg category.
  4. Coach Sandhu says 4 from the continental qualifiers and another 4 in the subsequent world qualifier. My hopes from the ongoing tournament are on Shiva Thapa, Vikas Krishnan, MC Marykom and Devendro Singh.
  5. I do believe that Leander Paes is the best mixed doubles player we have right now. Due to his ageing body, he may not be as good in men's doubles but he plays mixed doubles absolutely brilliantly as can be seen in the recent results. However, as you say if they don't have any chance of qualification, then there is no point of a debate and if Sania is going to play with Bopanna for the Olympics, she has to partner him at the French Open and Wimbledon. There is no winning partnership (unlike Paes who is going strong with Martina Hingis) that they need to break for this. However, in the recent past, I read an interview of Paes where he was very optimistic about playing mixed doubles at the Olympics. His ranking at that point was still not good enough so why make such statements? Is there any other way he thinks he can partner Sania in the mixed doubles?
  6. All losing news today Hopefully tomorrow we turn the tide in boxing, chess and of course cricket (both men and women)!
  7. Tomorrow 5 of our boxers would be fighting for a place in the quarter-finals: 1. Dheeraj Rangi faces the Thai boxer in the 60kg category 2. Vikash Krishnan faces the local favourite Zhao Minggang in the 75kg category 3. Satish Kumar faces another local favourite Mu Haipeng in the +91kg category 4. Mary Kom faces a tough challenge against the Kazakh boxer Nazym Kyzaibay in the women's 51kg category 5. Sarita Devi faces the Japanese boxer in the 60kg category An important day! All the best to our boxers!
  8. Sumit Sangwan and Pooja Rani both lose their bouts 3-0 and 2-1 respectively. Already down to 10 boxers. Worst possible start.
  9. Manoj Kumar loses his bout 3-0 to the Kazakh boxer Zhussupov
  10. Our tennis stars are losing steam as the Olympics inch closer Our only genuine hope seems to be the mixed doubles and Paes and Sania (provided the AITA chooses them) should play together at the French Open and Wimbledon to get some good match practice. Paes and Bopanna should also start playing together on the circuit if at all they want themselves to have a chance at the Olympics. Strong egos cannot go with a great desire to medal for the country. These guys are being absolutely paradoxical.
  11. Tomorrow we have 3 boxers in action. 1. Manoj Kumar in 64kg faces the Kazakh boxer 2. Sunit Sangwan in 81kg faces the Korean boxer 3. Pooja Rani in the 75kg faces the Tajikistani boxer A win and the top seeded boxers in their respective categories await them in the next round
  12. Karjakin won his game. Caruana on course for a draw. Tomorrow is a rest day and Anand needs to make the most of it if he wants to have that shot at the world championship again. The odds are stacked very much against him...
  13. any idea about the schedule of Asia/Oceania olympic boxing qualifiers?
  14. Hi, are the draws for Asia/Oceania qualifiers out?
  15. And Anand takes his 4th victory at the Candidates Tournament! Moves into the joint lead with Caruana. Trails in the head to head. But the way he is playing with white, he just needs to be cautious when he has black pieces. Tomorrow is a big day! He has black pieces against 7th-placed Nakamura. The reverse fixture was a draw.
  16. Anand (White) in a better position against Karjakin (Black). Could be a massive victory. However Caruana (Black) seems to be ahead against Topalov (White). You can follow the games live here: Anand - Karjakin - http://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2016-candidates/11-Anand_Viswanathan-Karjakin_Sergey Topalov - Caruana - http://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2016-candidates/11-Topalov_Veselin-Caruana_Fabiano Edit: Topalov - Caruana Draw. C'mon Vishy!!
  17. Makes sense to share and spread each other's blogs and pages. Collaboration also a good idea once there is some traction.
  18. Hi guys, Do any of you own or know someone who runs a sports related blog? PM me if you do. Planning to start one myself.
  19. Great topic! Although I love all the films made on the olympics, this has to be my favourite: This is my favourite from the winter olympics:
  20. Saina Nehwal is the lone Indian survivor as we move into the q/f stage of the all-england open. Must say that it is disappointing considering our badminton prowess.
  21. good to see the forum up and running again... Saina's match after the current men's singles match. Should start somewhere between 7.30-8pm IST. Live on star sports 4
