  1. The women's handball Spain-France matches are starting to get a really anxious way, kinda heartbreaking
  2. We send a big team too: W: Mireia Belmonte, Jessica Valls M: Miguel Ortiz-Cañavete, Joan Lluis Pons
  3. Both spanish olympic medallists Ruth Beitia and Orlando Ortega said they want to be there.
  4. But the fact that some sport are inexisting is sad, and that's what I'm jelaous about. I personally don't care about the medals too much, but it's about time to win a winter games medal; since the times of the Fernandez-Ochoa sibilings we haven't.
  5. Team Size prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2018 PyeongChang Ski Sports Alpine Skiing (3) - With our best skiers retiring last year, the young team's best case scenario would be one woman and two men to qualify, que can't ask for more. Cross Country Skiing (1) - Also Laura Orgue, our best skier, retired when Sochi ended, I don't think there's another girl out there compiting. So a men should have an "easy" way to qualify. Ski Jumping (-) - Does not exist here, sadly. And doesn't look like the federation is looking to improve it. They let our former training instalations to get old, and know they can't be used, they're pretty much in ruins. I don't think we are going to be present in that sport, at least for the next 30 years. Nordic Combined (-) - Same thing. Freestyle Skiing (1) - Well, I'm confident in this one. I don't know what Katia Griffits is up to, maybe she retired, no idea. But we have young boys around that are doing good work. For the first time ever, the federation is funding some guys; and the fact that the World Championships are in Spain this year is motivating them a lot, so I hope it works for at least one of them. Snowboarding (6) - Yep, I'm maybe going all over the place with this one, but our three men in cross, Queralt Casteller, Maria Hidalgo and Josito Aragon, I saw all of them with chances. Biathlon (1) - I only see Victoria Padial getting in, no chances for men. Skating Sports Speed Skating (1) - We have a men who's doing good, and that's all. Short Track Speed Skating (-) - Well, 2016 is the first time Spain had national championships in this sport, we have a long way to go. Figure Skating (5) - I still see Javier Fernandez as World Champ this year, so that would give three men's quotas. Also, I think that a dance quota would be easy, even with our best couple (Sara and Adria) spliting last year. Sadly, I don't see any women getting a place, and that's bad because a women would qualify Spain for the Team Event too. Sleigh Sports Luge (-) - Not existing sport. Skeleton (1) - Mirambell should be back. Sadly I don't see our girl getting a place, but we'll see about that. Bobsleigh (-) - Well, we have a girl duo fighting for it, but I don't know, I'm not positive about that, since the federation doesn't look like they're working on them much.... Team Sports Curling (-) - Coming from medallist in Mixed Curling in 2013 I think, it's sad were we are know. No chance at all. Ice Hockey (-) - Well, we have no chance now, and that's kinda enbarrasing. Total Optimistic Prediction - (28) Total Pessimistic Prediction - (16) Total Realistic Prediction - (20)
  6. I don't think so, we don't hate each other that much.
  7. If Portugal is going to be in, why not? Also Jordania and Iraq could be part of it. Even Great Britain, to be fair, Gibraltar is in mediterranean waters.
  8. http://www.elperiodico.com/es/noticias/deportes/aplazados-los-juegos-mediterraneos-tarragona-5608562 It's official, the Mediterranean Ga,es are moved to 2018. So sad, what a dissaster.
  9. And about Andrea, it's used for womens here because literally means WOMAN (but like in a polite way, more like lady) in basque. But also in whole Spain is used for women, like Andrea Blas (waterpolo silver medallist in London)
  10. Acording to some sources, the 2017 Mediterranian Games can be moved to 2018 due to financial problems and the political scene in Spain.
  11. Spanish athlete Bruno Hortelano, European 2016 200m champion, just had a car accident. Although his life is in no danger, he was hospitalized with one of his hand in "critical conditions" according to the emergency service. He is getting surgery rigth know, really hope everything goes alrigth. Acording to some press he's on risk of amputation, but you definitively can't relay on them in situations like this...
  12. Is there anywhere where I can see Entry List or something?
  13. The combined event is like Omnium in track, maybe it would work.
  14. Saudi Arabia, Albania and Bosnia hardly go over 10 athletes at Olympics, with all the respect but calling them "big countrys" seems wrong. Hockey is one of the most open team sports, with a lot of country's with real chances of doing something. Maybe is not present in all countrys in the world, but is not like we are talking about waterpolo that needs a big venue to even train, is accessible for all countrys.
  15. So, we take out Table Tennis because China is better than anyone else? Doesn't see to fair to me. It's like taking out Basket because there's no way someone can beat US. They've earn this domination.
  16. Canoe Slalom is pretty much the only "exciting" olympic sport to this day. Can't cut that out. Even if it's need a "big venue", with I don't think, every decent host city should be able to build one without problem. I mean, Rio women's K1 champion. Maialen Chourraut is from Basque Country, where there's not a single slalom canal, she learn in rivers.
  17. Due to Russia being banned, Spain has reciebed the upcoming realocation: Football 5-a-side team. Athlete Jordi Madera (Men's 5000 T54). Swimmer Íñigo Llopis (Men's 50, 100 free and 200 styles S8). http://www.paralimpicos.es/web/2016RIOPV/noticias/noticias.asp?n=1564&e=7
  18. That thing about changing football never gonna happend, guys. Olympics need football more than football need to be in olympics. They will never agree to a change.
  19. Well, just wait. I'm not 100% sure Mediterranean Games are going to happend. Soooo much funding problems.
  20. I always thougth that, for the European Games to rise, they should be organizated by one of western european countrys. I'm sure that if Russia takes them they will do something big about them, and it could be the "new start" of Russia in sports. I'm sad they're going to dead, I really liked them
